National Trust Mapperton, Montecute and Forde Abbey are all within easy reach, and are favourite Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy film locations. The historic towns of Bridport and Dorchester are both close by and hold markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The spectacular Jurassic coast is within 12 miles where fossil hunters, boat trips, beaches and fishing await, as well as the seaside towns of West Bay and Lyme Regis.
