The Area
It’s situated on the bustling Ormeau Road which is a 1 min walk away. Here you can find a huge variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Grab groceries in Tesco Express, Centra, the Mace or the huge Spar on Sunnyside Street. There are also an array of wonderful independent shops - buy freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries from Bread and Banjo, artisan cheeses and chutneys from Indie Fude, a fantastic selection of wines in the Vineyard at the end of the street (in my opinion the best off license in Belfast!), insanely good vegan chocolate gelato in Al-Gelato, modern designer flowers and gifts in Memento, local fruit and veg in Michel’s, meat in McCreery’s butchers and a selection of Polish brands in Karolina.
There are more than 18 different cafes and restaurants worth checking out, from Kaffe-o’s Nordic style coffee, to the General Merchants delicious modern brunch, to the classic café grub available at Graffiti. Restaurants include Stove (whose chefs used to work at the highly regarded Ginger and Schuh restaurants in Belfast), The Shed, L’Etoile (classic French food), Greens Pizza (a long standing Belfast favourite), great Indian food at the Bengal Brasserie and the award winning Bia Rebel Ramen.
Nearby bars include stalwarts such as The Errigle Inn who have a selection of different bars and upstairs with live music, The Pavilion who have live music and a comedy club on a Monday night, the Northern Lights and The Parador Lodge (old school!)
There’s also loads of charity shops to pick up knick knacks or have a browse and discover curios.
