I made the reservation, sent a text via VRBO to the owner to let him know that I was making the reservation for my son and his 4 friends, paid for the apartment, and got confirmation. But, on the day of check-in, we were never able to make contact with the owner despite multiple calls and texts. And then while I was on the phone with VRBO customer service, the owner suddenly canceled the reservation over an hour after we were to have checked in. My son and his friends who had just traveled for 8 hours and were already exhausted were left with no place to go for another several hours. And I spent many hours that day arranging the first night’s hotel and then had to find another place for them to stay for the rest of the time. This was right in the middle of an intense work week for me. And I still have to take time to try to get reimbursed from VRBO for the expenses! It was a nightmare and has made me rethink ever using these kinds of owner-rented services again! So it is rather ironic that after all that I got an email from VRBO to rate our stay!!??!!
