Cute and Cozy Vacation Stay on the Eastern Shore!

Located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in the quaint seaside village of Cheriton. We offer a simple, clean, convenient vacation rental for families, fishing buddies, hunters, weekend away and anyone who just wants a break from life. The Chesapeake Bay beaches are within a 6 mile radius and The Atlantic Ocean is accessible by public boat ramps in the area. A day trip either north or south offers lots of activities to do. The short trip across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel will have you arriving in Virginia Beach...the Norfolk Zoo is 41 miles from here! Virginia Beach offers the "OceanFront" where you can go to the beach, dine, and shop all within the same area.

North of us the the waterfront village of Onancock with a great shopping experience of small town shopping. You can also catch the ferry to Tangier Island to take a step back into time and visit a true "Waterman's Village" But be prepared to walk or rent a golf cart as there are no cars on Tangier Island.

Don't forget our local State Park: Kiptopeke! There is beachfront for a day in the sun. A fishing pier for your favorite fisherman. And a view of the "Concrete Ships" a marvel in themselves. There are lots of walking trails through out the park and lots of friendly faces to help you with any questions!

Fishing on the Eastern Shore is world-class so bring your boat, we have plenty of room to park it and your vehicle. If you need a list of local public boat ramps to launch from whether you want bayside fishing or seaside fishing we have that too. We have a designated fish cleaning station as well.

At the end of the day, come on in and relax in your apartment, with a very large kitchen with all the cooking implements you will need . A hot shower in the bathroom and a comfy bed await the end of your day. Their are 3x queen beds and one twin bed.

Ask questions ahead
The home was clean. There is no satellite or cable tv and the advertised Wi-Fi was NOT working the entire time so no streaming tv either. I did get a small refund but had I known ahead I would I definitely would have made other plans. There is no curtain in the bathroom you have to hang a towel over the window. The mattress covers are plastic and very noisy. Otherwise it wasn’t too bad

Great space and location
The space was perfect for me and my best friend and our kids ages 3, 9, and 12. The deck was an awesome space and there was plenty of room in the front yard for the kids to run around. It was also very convenient being less than 10 minutes from downtown. The only minor issue was insects around the windows. I'm sure that came from there being no permanent residents. Sprayed a little disinfectant on the windows when we arrived and had no more problems. It was great and we hope to grab this spot again when we come back!

A change for the worse from our last stay here.
We arrived to check in without difficulty. When we walked through the unit we identified several items that didn’t belong. Left behind were slippers in the bedroom, food in the refrigerator. and items left in the couch. To boot the kitchen faucet was not working properly. PS new furniture is desperately need.

1st VRBO stay
This was booked as a last minute stay due to we came for a funeral. The place is better than the pictures online. Michael was very communicative whenever I had a slew of questions. We enjoyed the stay and hope to stay again next year for family reunion.

Wreck Island Lodge (Mobile Home)
Another great stay at another one of Mr. Steelman's fisherman's retreats. This stay as great as the stay last year. All 3 bedrooms were good size and the queen size beds fit us "larger" guys. Place was clean, well equipped for a fisherman's weekend, and appeared newly remodeled. Will be staying again for sure. Great Job Mr. Steelman.

Nice place
Overall our experience was good. We only stayed one night, we were passing through for the night. Beds were new and very comfortable. We appreciated the mattress covers but they were a little noisy. It is in kind of a strange location on the property so maybe note some of that in the description so people know what to look for. Only nagatives are that the tub and shower could face lift, painted tubs don’t appeal well. Also it needs a curtain in the bathroom for privacy and for some odd reasons if you close the bedroom doors the bedrooms get very hot. If we were coming down again we’d look to stay again though.
