The village is approximately 10 miles from both Penrith and Carlisle. The cottage is ideally located for touring the unspoilt Eden Valley, the Lake District, the Pennines, the Scottish Borders and Hadrian's Wall.

The River Eden itself is ideal for angling, canoeing and other recreational pursuits.

The Eden Valley is excellent walking country with many interesting and attractive walks in the area.
