6 adults over 40 with one dog; VRBO and Home Away multiple times before. Overall, property is nice and we had a great time. It just needs some preparation for its guests. The property manager, Phil, was very responsive to phone calls/texts, and he quickly addressed concerns.
Upon arrival, we had to wash 2 sets of sheets due to them not being cleaned properly. In the Master, we found a pillow covered in mold spores. There were only 6 bath towels in the entire house, 2 hand towels, no wash cloths, no dish towels. We found dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Phil was very apologetic, and said he would check on his cleaning crew in the future. He purchased 6 more towels and wash cloths along with steak knives once we realized there were none.
With the beautiful kitchen, we expected to do a lot of cooking in a fully stocked kitchen! We found a couple pots and pans, no strainers/colanders, no cutting board, no measuring cups, nor oven mitts. There was a baking sheet (cookie sheet) that was charred black. The ice maker was not working so we purchased bags of ice. We were disappointed to find mixed and matched cups, utensils, dishes, bowls and silverware. Looking through the kitchen, you will find MULTIPLE junk drawers and cabinets. In one, we found loose ammunition (live rounds).
The 4th bedroom is located on the first floor, does not have a door and can easily be seen from the dining area across the hall. There is only 1 TV. They have Netflix and over-the-air antenna channels; Internet is great. The downstairs area rugs are frayed with holes in them. In all the bathrooms, the hardware (toilet paper holders and towel racks) were falling off the walls.
The main gate is not electronic and does not have a mechanism to latch closed, we used a ratchet strap to keep the front gate closed. While the yard is “fenced” it has multiple gates and not all of them close.
There are long handled garden tools dispersed all around the yard, an old push mower in a bush right next to the driveway. There is a canoe but it was half full of green water. No cushions on the outdoor furniture.
There is a well placed swing seat overlooking the pond in the front yard that we all enjoyed. It was quiet in the house and there was plenty of room for all of use on the couch in the living room area. The dining table was great for dinner and family game nights. It is a close drive to Charlotte, far enough away to feel out in the country and not on top of other homes.
