Hermanus-on-the-Hudson is convenient to Gore Mountain, Lake George Region, North Creek, Friends Lake, Schroon Lake, Loon Lake, Adirondacks, Americade, World University Games, FISU, with activities of skiing, rafting, biking, and hiking the High Peaks.
Winter Adventures: Downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, hockey AND Winter Carnivals are some of the wonders of winter. Nearby areas to explore: Gore Mountain (about 10 miles away), West Mountain, Oak Mountain, Whiteface Mountain, Hickory Ski Center, Garnet Hill, Coles Woods, North Warren Snowmobile Club, C&C snowmobile Tours, Dynamite Hill Ice Rink, and Adirondack Thunder Hockey are just a few in the area.
Winter Carnivals are in Lake George, Saranac Lake, and Brandt Lake (more will be announced once the final dates are set).
Spring/Summer/Fall fun and enjoyment. Hike the trails and mountains nearby, examine the abundance of flowers springing up in the spring and summer, view the beautiful colors of fall throughout the Adirondacks. I am always amazed each year by the wonderous colors each season has to offer - truly gorgeous!
For Golfers, Cronin's is the place to go (only about 5 miles away). It has a fantastic course and great food! We love their hot dogs! When making your reservation, tell John or Jim (the owners) that Ken and Sue sent you to them.
Starting in early Spring, Square Eddy Expeditions has white water rafting. Are you planning on attending a wedding at Friends Lake Inn? Then, staying at Hermanus is just down the road. Revolution Rail is your place if you love recumbent biking along the Hudson. Hermanus-on-the-Hudson is the place to be!

The Adirondack-style second-floor Carriage House apartment boasts over 1500 sq. ft. and almost every amenity you desire. Upon entering your private entrance, you will be amazed at the living areas: an open living/dining/kitchen area with a wood-burning stone fireplace that reaches 16-18-foot ceilings.
At Hermanus, you may walk the many trails, sit in or by the river, fish, walk across the Hudson (when the water is low), snowshoe (not provided), or sit by the fire pits (two on-site). In addition, there are puzzles, games, internet Wi-Fi, and a 75" Smart TV.
Wish to dine in: the kitchen has almost everything from major to small appliances and baking supplies. Have your cup of coffee (k-pods or 12 cups) anytime during the day, a toaster, blender, or crockpot. Plenty of dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and knives make preparing meals easy. Ample cupboards and a large refrigerator offer plenty of storage. Paper and cleaning products are provided, including basic food supplies such as ketchup, relish, mayonnaise, spices, and sugar. If you forgot an item, ask!
The main bedroom has a king bed and a comfortable reading chair. The adjacent walk-in closet has plenty of hanging space, a washer/dryer, and a small safe for valuables.
The second bedroom has two twin beds and a closet. In addition, there is a small desk and a trundle bed in the "Crows Nest" (loft). This area overlooks the massive living/dining/kitchen area. The maximum sleeping capacity is 6. There is also a travel crib (Graco Pack 'n-Play Dome LX-Playard).
The private bath has double sinks and a walk-in shower. The caretakers share additional bathrooms: a half bath downstairs (through the heated garage) and a full bath (shower) in the heated workshop.
Chestertown is about 5 miles from restaurants, and an exquisite fine-dining restaurant is minutes away. Every town around Hermanus has its unique charm and plenty of activities year-round.
We only accept dogs. If your dog or dogs are over 25 lbs, please email us to let us know what breed your dogs are and their weight before booking. So far, we have had dogs up to 125 lbs.
