My daughter and I celebrated our birthdays with a few days in Portland. The Weldon is comfortable, so clean and new, in the heart of the waterfront while being private and quiet. We highly recommend this. Pricewise it was less than 2 hotel rooms near the water and with great amenities

Great access to public transportation. Some areas in the apartment had a musty smell, and it isn't dusted regularly but otherwise clean. As another reviewer mentioned, there were several individuals "hanging out" most of the time by the 7-11 on the corner but never bothered us when we walked by them.

The cooling didnt work on first night, but it was fixed for the rest of my stay. The place was smaller than i thought it would be (technically had 2 bedrooms but everything was tight), it could have used a good dusting, the shower stall had some mold, and the soap dispenser was broken. But even so our stay was OK

Great Location, Terrible Process
The location was amazing - perfect for hopping on the Harold Washington Library brown line L just a half block away, or the Jackson blue line just one block away. That is the only reason why this review gets any stars. The check in process with Sonder is ridiculous. There were 3 primary things wrong with it. First, it's all online with bots and apps - no actual people involved. Second, you are forced to download the app and upload a photo of your driver's license. Third, while they make the access process complicated with 3 different codes to get into your apartment, everyone was frustrated with it, and people would just hold the door open for anyone trying to get in. So their high security completely backfired. The apartment was disgustingly dirty. The floors hadn't been vacuumed in who knows how long. There were dust bunnies, bits of paper and someone's hair bead in the kitchen when we walked in.There was dust all over the surfaces of the furniture and cabinets. The sheets were clean and the bathroom was clean, so I'm guessing it was just a quick change out between guests, but it has been that way for awhile with the amount of dust and floor debris built up. The kitchen as exactly 3 pans. If you want to cook, you need to make the 3 pans work. There is no skillet so forget about frying eggs. The garbage disposal does not work. This is an old building so you can hear the upstairs people walking around. It's loud with traffic and trains too But the location was great!

We loved everything about this place. The location is great. It is close to a lot of good places to visit. The only thing is this place needs some deep cleaning especially under the beds. We would have missed this except on the last day I always check under the bed to make sure we didn’t leave anything. I don’t think think the cleaners have checked under there for a while.

Great Location
Awesome location, close to everything, seemed like a safe neighborhood. It is noisy (downtown big city) so bring some ear plugs. Direct TV but didn't seem like there was any smart TV or casting functionality, so we just used our laptop when we were ready to relax. The apartment has everything you need to cook if you don't want take out for every meal. Would not hesitate to stay here again if we're ever back to Chicago!

Short Girls Weekend stay
We stayed for 2 nights and had a great visit to Chicago. My teen daughter wanted to do some shopping, so we took the subway to the Magnificent Mile and checked out the various stories, including Zara and H & M. Having local eateries nearby was very nice; Poke Burrito was really good. Thank you for the clean apartment for us, and security staff were helpful with checking us in and giving us directions to our place. Only complaint was the placement of the bed in the open bedroom; its layout wouldn’t allow the door to close. We had to move the bed to get the door to close for privacy.

We chose this last minute because our other vrbo cancelled on us. The proximity to the start/finish line of chicago marathon was a big factor in our choice and for that it was perfect. What we discovered though is that anything south of Jackson Blvd gets pretty sketchy. We didnt feel safe there outside at night. The apartment had what we needed, full kitchen, washer dryer . The apartment however was really dirty. The common areas of the building were filthy , the elevator had cigarette butts jammed in the cracks, that stayed there the 5 days we were there. The entryway to the building had garbage strewn about, that also stayed there the entire 5 days. It's sad because this place could be realy nice with the appropriate maintenance. Furniture in apartment and common areas was very old. Kitchen was well equiped but had a film of grease on all surfaces.

I will never trust VRBO again. I’m pretty sure someone urinated on the steps that entered the building. The unit we stayed in had a bathroom door that didn’t close unless you threw your shoulder into it a couple of times. The bedrooms were literally wall to wall bed, with a few inches of clearance to close the door. My bed felt like an egg-crate on plywood. The description did say it was a noisy area but I didn’t expect sirens and alarms all night. We did accomplish what we needed to on our trip, but we’re so disappointed in the room that we left the city at 6pm the night before our departure and drove through the night because it would be better than another night in that room.

Excellent location
This property is in Chicago's loop with easy access to museums, parks, and theaters. The red and blue lines to O'Hare are within a block's walk, as are the other el lines and many bus lines. We loved the location. There was some street noise, but we didn't find it problematic. We would definitely stay here again.

Small, clean apartment in an ok neighborhood. Our bedroom inner wall did not go up to the ceiling. No other issues until a storm hit and we had a major leak in the AC, with water dripping down the wall, soaking the tv/cable box, the carpet, pooling on a table. They couldn’t fix it that day — too many other units affected as well, apparently. I had a terrible night’s sleep due to the dripping. They offered $75, very low considering 1 night stay was many times that much, said they would escalate to management, then crickets. Have heard nothing for two weeks now. Also, they advertise a rooftop area, but the elevator does not go to the roof, so be prepared to walk up a flight of stairs to reach it. Difficult if you are disabled.

Great property!
Beautiful communal spaces on the rooftop deck and in the lobby. Spaces have everything needed for 5 night stay and plenty of good restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The common spaces and apartment were extremely clean and beds were comfortable. It was a nice bonus to find plenty of pillows and each bedroom had its own temperature control. The area around the Van Buren/Dearborn L stop was a little sketchy, but easily avoidable by walking south out of the building. We never had any issues although we did see a guy open a bottle of Corona with his teeth! Ouch!

When we arrived, the apartment was freezing 66 degrees Fahrenheit. We immediately contacted the agent, who said that they would attempt to address the situation. I followed up every half hour for two hours, by which time the temperature had dropped to 64, and they were unable to provide an estimate of when the problem would be fixed. We arranged to stay somewhere else and as we were leaving, a young man arrived with one small heater for a two bedroom (three spaces) apartment. It would never have heated the space. Sonder reneged on the promised refund on the basis that they offered heaters - I quickly responded that this was not the case but they won't relent. We feel that this is a rip-off. Sonder could have set the building to heat. The forecast a day ahead was for a cold day. It was Spring in Chicago - variable weather - they should have put heaters in the room. They should have been able to provide heaters "on request" as they promised not when they would get around to it. They should have provided adequate heating not a token. The apartment was supposed to be two bedroom but they had merely cut into the living space by walling off a section (not to the ceiling, mind, as I suspect that may have breach some rule). This meant that there were two tiny bedrooms and a tiny living space. The area was noisy due to a train a couple of blocks down. This could have been ameliorated by the use of double glazing (which would have also helped with the cold). Don't stay here.

Loved the price.
We enjoyed our stay. However, the bathroom was not user friendly. No where to put your stuff. The plug is in an odd place for curling iron. Only one other mirror in the space. TVs in the bedrooms would have been nice as well. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

Exactly what we were looking for!
This place was perfect for 3 guests who just needed a small and inexpensive area for quick breaks between excursions and sleep! The beds were very comfy and everything worked great. The location was safe and close to the places we wanted to see. Check in was super easy and we were able to park in a garage a short walk away using SpotHero. We are impressed and will definitely be looking for more Sonder locations for future travel.
