I rented this house as a place to stay while visiting Crater Lake. There were not a lot of options in the area! It looked very nice in all the pics and the 35-45 minute drive to the park was easy. When we arrived, I was shocked at the number of bugs in all of the window gutters. They were an inch deep! Tiny midges. Zillions of them. The front screen door was full of them. The front porch was covered in them. I found a hose and attempted to rinse them off, but we still couldn't open the windows because the screens and gutters were full of bugs. Around late afternoon, one side of the house would be swarmed by midges and there were also lots of them on the deck. Needless to say, we did not use the deck or venture outside much. What looked to me like a lovely, green lawn down to the water was actually a hummocky mess and there was not much landscaping to speak of. When I opened the tap for a glass of water, I was surprised by the smell of sulphur. I assume they are on a well and while the water may be drinkable, there is no way I am going to drink anything that smells like that! The house inside is really very bright and spacious. The beds were comfortable and everything seemed in working order. The A/C was great. I definitely wish I had been warned about the bugs and told to bring drinking water. It served my purpose, but was not the place for a lovely afternoon of sipping a glass of wine while relaxing on the deck, enjoying the beautiful view as I had hoped.
