Stay in a furnished tipi, just steps away from our expansive vegetable garden. With a stone floor and fire pit you are sure to keep the chill off on cool summer nights. Our biodynamic farm and homestead consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We grow much of our own food and forge many types of wild mushrooms.
The space
Very secluded corner of our property with miles of hiking/ biking trails to enjoy. We host volunteers from all over the world, with many interesting stories to tell! We have friendly goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, cows horses and koi guests can interact with.
Guest access
You have access to the farm and many miles of amazing hiking trails
Other things to note
The structure is not built to stay completely dry in heavy rains. The same feature that allows you to have a fire inside will allow small amounts of water to drip in during heavy storms. Also during rain the smoke flaps must be closed, so no fires! If you're afraid of insects this is not the listing for you. The tipi is deep in the woods and has a giant hole in the top of the canvas to allow smoke to pass through.. which allows the occasional insect to enter. having a small fire will drive most of them out!
There is a porta potty in the forest just past the camp wood rack. We can no longer use our lovely outhouses due to health Dept regulations. To find it, continue down the dirt road you came in on, into the forest. It is a short distance from wood rack on left. There is a community shower between the two barns for bathing needs, and a sink for washing, but this is not potable water.
