Fluss zu Fuß von der Hütte mit sauberen, großen Schotterbar. Oberer Meramec Fluss - Red Ribbon Gebiet, bekannt für Sauberkeit und Forellenangeln. Anniversary get away
We enjoyed our stay at the Whippoorwill Cabin on the Upper Meramec River. Our stay was very quiet and peaceful. The rock gravel bar access was really nice to hang out on and enjoy the day. The inside had everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay. We hike quite a bit so the walk up and down the rock gravel road to the river access was acceptable. I can see where it could be a challenge for some. The back deck is very relaxing.

Wonderful + Cozy Bday Weekday
My mom, cousin, aunt, friend, dog, and I piled in for a delightful weekend of yummy food, sitting by the river, and sitting on the porch. The directions were super helpful and the cabin was very well equipped. My dog was so so happy to be a country pooch for a weekend, roaming all over and chasing sticks and fish in the river. Be advised that the walk down to the river is no joke (more accurately, the walk back UP is no joke), but our small 4WD SUVs did just fine on the mostly dry gravel. Bring serious tick prevention, it is the woods after all. I would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Stay!
Emily was a wonderful hostess as she made sure we had everything we needed before and after we arrived. Her property is in an ideal location with short drives to Meramec Springs, Cuba, Steelville, etc. And the views from the back of her place during the sunset are breathtaking. We would certainly like to come back to visit!

Perfect private getaway
Emily’s place was very clean and updated. It was easy to locate. The views and fire pit were amazing! The hike to the river is a bit farther than I thought and steep but it was extremely secluded and the water areas were great for swimming. The porches made it great to hang out outside even in the rain or the heat. We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin had everything we needed and more.

This place was absolutely perfect for us! We love floating but also love peace and quiet. The cabin was clean, beds amazingly comfortable, gorgeous scenery and floating options down the road. Cozy and scenic
Quiet, clean, and very comfortable. Of Course there’s no Wi-Fi. However, there are plenty of videos to choose from and our AT&T service was adequate enough to stay in communication. It is recommended that you have four-wheel-drive for the short drive to the river. Once at the river, it’s beautiful and the fishing is decent. I’m sure we’ll visit again

Property was very clean, host was wonderful, and the location was perfect. We greatly enjoyed the deck overlooking the valley, and having coffee out there each morning to the sounds of wild Turkey, squirrel, hawks and more. Would definitely stay again.

Very expensive for little accommodations
The house and location were fine but was disappointed with things such as Wi-Fi, shower soap, and water not being on when we arrived. There is no cell phone service so without Wi-Fi, you are truly disconnected from the outside world. I think the cost should be 1/3 of what I paid. If you’re looking for good river access and no distractions, this is your spot. The cabin comfortably sleeps 3 so it was rough having 4 grown men trying to shower and get ready in the morning. The upstairs shower was smaller than the average RV shower. There’s no privacy whatsoever, one main room upstairs with bed,kitchen, disgusting futon with stains and a small coffee table. basement with 2 beds. Please get new sheets for the futon, there are bleach stains and who knows what else all over it.

Peace and quiet
It’s a good property to be near fishing but there aren’t any interesting towns nearby that are exciting to visit. Bring supplies with you as far as food and notions. Cabin has paper supplies to meet needs and a fire pit with firewood as well as a wood stove. Beds and kitchenware are basic. I guess that’s really what the property is for is a fishing cabin! No hiking trails per se. We enjoyed just getting away from the city for a couple days and are glad our dogs were welcome. Owner seems very nice.

My husband and I couldn’t have been more pleased with this quaint cabin get away for our 27th anniversary. The owner is very responsive and has all the personal touches of home. Show up, unplug and enjoy. It was November when we visited but inside or out there’s plenty to do. Take long walks , sit around fire , enjoy some music or play some games. This pet friendly property is something to see. We will definitely be back.

The cabin has what you need, and the view is amazing - looking out over the valley to the hill beyond is just lovely. The road down to the river is steep, so definitely respect the rules of 4wd/Awd vehicles only. Once at the river, the gravel bar is perfect - lots of frogs to catch, fish to see, the perfect combination of sun and shade. Emily is a wonderful communicator, so friendly and kind. We hope to be back!

Perfect family stay
Cabin is just as pictured. Very cute. Nice for small family. Very well stocked. Great location. private. Short driving distances to attractions. There was one TV in the upstairs area but can only watch dvd movies. And the cell service wasn’t great. But it allowed for a great family bonding experience. The walk to the river wasn’t too bad. The walk back was a little rough. So pack lightly. The gravel bar was very private location. The kids had a blast playing In The river. Located in a Great spot. They caught all kinds of frogs, crawdads, fish, turtles. There’s a nice fire pit outside the cabin stocked with logs. And the porch was lovely in the morning. There were hummingbirds all around us. The only negative thing I can say about the place is the shower. It was very hard to shower in that small area and the shower head did not adjust. There are also lots of spiders to watch for. But overall we all enjoyed our stay. We went to maramec spring park. Loved it! And fugitive beach was an easy drive to get to. I would upload all our lovey pics we got during our stay if I could. It was a great time,

A 5 star cabin with everything a cabin getaway needs
I was impressed with how clean it was and how the owner checked in to see how we were doing. Five minutes away from The Maramac River, but still close enough to town and restaurants. So many things were provided for cooking. No need to bring a spice rack with you. It’s mostly here.

From the moment we unlocked the gate and until we locked it one last time, our trip was magical. Every detail is accurate and really the photos do not do this properly justice. Super clean, comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen (hello chilled glasses for an ice cold beer) and the most beautiful view from a covered deck. Although it was hot outside we could not help ourselves and had to build a small fire in a beautiful stone fire pit. We loved drinking coffee on the deck, watching the birds and checking off the list of bird songs from the handwritten list found in the bird book in the living room. Such a gem!!!! We floated one day and then decided to make use of the private access to the river on the property. It is a beautiful hike down but a car (we used a 4-runner and had no issues) was helpful going up, especially with a cooler and chairs. I had access to 5G on my Verizon phone at the cabin. There is no cable BUT the selection of movies is excellent. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. Thank you so much for opening your home!!! Until next time!

Little jem that has it all!
Great communication with the owner! We loved the coziness of the cabin and all the amenities and conveniences available. With firewood, charcoal, a covered deck with ceiling fan, and access to a private gravel bar, we never ran out of opportunities to enjoy the property. I only wish we'd had more time to enjoy it all. I hadn't realized that there's an outfitter so close - just down the road (less than 10 minutes in car on the gravel/blacktop) that provides stream access, $10 vehicle parking, put-in for private craft, and rental craft. We didn't end up floating but did hang out on the gravel bar in the late afternoon and chatted with all the floaters coming back into the outfitters. The multiple entrances in the cabin, the bathrooms on both levels, and the outdoor amenities made it an easy location to share time with friends. The beautiful woodburner had me already planning for winter visits as well. Can't wait to go back!
