On Friday, July 21, 2023, we checked into the hotel in the afternoon. There was a power outage due to heavy rain the night before. There were no room keys, no WiFi, no TV and no breakfast. Our electronic room lock was dismantled and reconfigured on Saturday evening, so that we then received our key cards afterwards.
Unfortunately, our daughter was not doing so well that evening and her blood sugar was too low. She has type I diabetes and we wanted to avoid hypoglycaemia. My husband went to the machine to get a $2.50 Powerade, but it didn't work because of the power issues. So he went downstairs to the reception where they also have a small booth. Here the Powerade cost $3. Unfortunately, the card reader for the credit card did not work. Although my husband then paid the lady the $3 in cash, she asked for our room number.
Since I didn't receive an invoice upon checkout on 7/23/23, I assume the $3 post-charge is for the Powerade.
The answer from the Hotel "it might've been the hotel service fee" is very unsatisfactory. Because I want to know what I have to pay for. I find it cheeky to justify the whole thing succinctly with a fee. Especially since no other hotel on our round trip charged. And during our stay at these hotel, due to the power outage, there were a lot of restrictions and inconveniences for us.
