Couloir Duplex Cabin at The Woolly Bugger Inn (#16)

Welcome to The Woolly Bugger Inn! Our cabins, tiny homes, and suites are tucked into the woodsy Big Thompson Canyon just minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park and downtown Estes Park.

ABOUT COULOIR (#16):
Couloir is a spacious two-bedroom, two-story private cabin located within a cliffside duplex (alongside neighboring Trail Ridge Cabin). Enjoy a full kitchen, living room, three bathrooms, two well-equipped bedrooms (both King, plus a living pullout sofa), TV, and gas fireplace (indoor). Your outdoor spaces include a private hot tub, (seasonal) wood-burning fire pit, private balcony with an outdoor dining set, private back deck space, and grill. Perfect for up to 6 guests. Please note this cabin is accessed via an outdoor stairway and can get a little noise from the nearby Highway 34.

About The Woolly Bugger Inn:
We’re nestled along a quarter-mile private stretch of the (highly fishable!) Big Thompson River, with plenty of space to spread out and relax on our forested, five-acre grounds. The vibe here is cozy, laid-back, and old-school, with a mix of historic rental quarters and newer, more modern dwellings to choose from. We’re five minutes from downtown Estes Park and ten minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park.

**BEFORE YOU BOOK!**
Read on to ensure our quirky property is the right fit for your getaway:

Pets: We love hosting dogs, so let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along and we'll send you our pet agreement and fee. Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (free after the third night).

The Vibe: When we say "historic,” we mean historic—some of our digs stretch back 100 years, and sometimes, our “old school” shows. This can mean drafts when it’s cold out, some summer heat, and you’re bound to see an occasional four-to-eight-legged friend around the property. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of the Front Range ecosystem, so it’s all part of the fun!

WiFi & Cell: WiFi is limited throughout our canyon. We offer the best we can, but don’t expect to Zoom into meetings (or much of anything, internet-wise). Cell service is limited on the property at this time, so try to pull up your cabin and check-in instructions before you arrive. Please also note that weather can impact satellite TV strength in the area, as WiFi coverage has to be beamed through satellite dishes.

Safety:
For the safety of our guests, we maintain outdoor security cameras to monitor wildlife visits, fire risks, hazardous elements, and other safety protocols (public spaces only). Please note our property is wild and rugged, with cliff features, boulders, slopes, uneven surfaces, river access, and regular wildlife visits (bear, elk, wild cats, and more). Use caution around any natural terrain, understand and follow wildlife safety practices, and abide by our pet, fire, hot tub (if your unit includes one), and on-site rules as posted in your cabin guide. Hot tubs [if applicable] are for use at your own risk and not protected by a gate; the hosts are not responsible for injuries resulting from the use of the hot tub. Guests shall hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Owner against any and all claims of personal injury or property damage or loss arising from the use of the property, inclusive of but not limited to the house, hot tub, fire pits, etc., regardless of the nature of the accident, injury, or loss.

Seasonal Information:
Winters & Shoulder Season: Winter in Estes is magical, and we’re happy to make recommendations on activities! While US-34 east of the Park remains open and plowed, if you’re planning to visit during the winter/shoulder season, consider snow tires and any other supplies you may want for winter conditions. Trail Ridge Rd and other routes over the continental divide close seasonally every year, so access to Grand Lake and the western part of RMNP requires rerouting through I-70 to the south (which adds about 3-4 hours to the trip). During winter, watch out for snow shedding from roofs and icy/snowy walkways along our rugged grounds. We’ll send more winter info about a month before arrival.

Summer/Early Fall: This is the high season! Note that certain cabins and suites can get toasty during the daytime, but night typically cools off significantly. Fire season typically falls between summer and early fall in the area, so air quality may be unhealthy during this time, particularly among sensitive groups.

Check out the Rocky Mountain National Park website ahead of time for more information on Timed Entry Permits during peak season (typically May-October).

Let us know if you have questions!
We hope you enjoy this neck of the woods as much as we do. Holler if you want to chat. Welcome to The Woolly Bugger Inn!
To make sure everyone has a safe and peaceful stay, please read through the following:

Pets: Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (for up to the first 3 nights, then after your third night, dogs stay free!). We can accommodate a maximum of two dogs (and dogs only at this time), but get in touch with us if you have a special circumstance. Let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along, and we’ll send our pet agreement/fee.

Garbage and Food Storage: Estes Park is active bear habitat! Please secure the bear-proof dumpster latch and secure your trash and food items to prevent wildlife break-ins (which put both your life and the animal’s life in danger).

Fire Safety: Your cabin is located in a region extremely susceptible to wildfires, so we take fire risk very seriously. No fireworks, absolutely no bonfires during fire bans (or otherwise posted), properly control and extinguish bonfires (drown using a bucket of river water, then use the stir-mix-feel method), turn off grills after use, and do not leave grills or fires unattended.

Quiet hours begin at 10 pm and end the following morning at 8 am.

Extra Guests: We don’t permit extra guests beyond what’s listed in your cabin’s capacity max. Any day use guests must be pre-approved.

Events: At this time, we don’t allow guest events (such as weddings, parties, and so forth) at the property. We’re happy, however, to book your larger-sized group in multiple coinciding rooms at the hotel as long as you maintain respect and capacity numbers in each unit, keep noise levels to a minimum, and respectfully share communal spaces with guests outside your party.

Smoking: All of our units are non-smoking, but if guests need to smoke, we ask that they abide by a few rules. Visit The Woolly Bugger Inn FAQs & Policies for the full policy.

Early Check-In and Late Check-Out: At this time we’re unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs, but get in touch if you have a unique situation.

Cancellation: Please contact us if you have any questions on cancellation policies and refunds.

Leave No Trace: Respecting public lands and waters, Native and local communities, and our property is important to us. Please leave what you find and dispose of waste properly.

Hot Tubs: Please visit The Woolly Bugger Inn FAQs & Policies for the full policy.

Cozy getaway
Wonderful rental property. Great location with fantastic scenery. King size beds are very comfortable. Awesome to look up at the night sky while relaxing in the hot tub. Gorgeous river just a 30 second walk down from the property. Great deck out front as well as out back. It felt very warm and cozy. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and comfortable
The cabin is very nice and in such a pretty location. Everything was comfortable, especially the beds. So nice to have king size beds and an en-suite full bathroom in each bedroom. There’s also a closet in each bedroom with fans and extra blankets The bedrooms are upstairs but the steps are very sturdy and easy to walk up. There’s also a half bath and 2 closets on the first floor, along with the living room and full kitchen. Everything was spotless. The back porch with the hot tub, Adirondack chairs and fire pit looked inviting but we were exhausted and didn't use them after a very busy weekend and another nail-biter Chiefs win! We appreciated the covered parking space under the cabin and the one flight of stairs was easy to climb. There’s a large front deck with a nice wooden table and chairs. The partition between the decks of the adjoining space can be pulled back to make one large deck if you’re traveling with friends or family. Everything was wonderful and I wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Lovely gem by the river!
Kyle was a top notch online host… Extremely responsive and informative. Bethany was a super friendly on site host. Home was clean, welcoming and stocked with everything we needed. Housekeeping went over and beyond to make our arrival and stay wonderful. Towels, shape like fans, and tissues design like roses. Celebrated a birthday and host had a nice note and gift waiting. We miss the river! Thank you all!

Just what we needed.
My kids and I were on a cross-country camping trip and I decided to treat us! The river behind the resort was our favorite part. The mountain view from the front porch was great, too. The unit fit our needs perfectly and was very clean. Also, our host was very helpful. We cleaned up and recharged. I will definitely visit again.

Weekend with daughters
Wanted a night away with grown busy daughters. Was a cute place. Unfortunately the wind this particular weekend was horrible and not a normal weekend for Colorado, so we didn’t get to explore outside and by the river. We would love to come again, when we can be outdoors.

cozy getaway spot with beautiful views
This property was great for our extended family & pup! It snowed the whole time, and the mountain from the bedroom window and the views from the back porch were awesome. The river is a short walk down the stairs and had it been warmer, we would have been able to do more that the place had to offer, such as fire pit and porch nights. Kids loved the hot tub when it was snowing! So much fun!

Comfy Cabin
The condo was very clean and well stocked with towels and blankets. The stairs were a little challenging for all of our cold weather gear. We enjoyed the kitchen and the family room. We thought we might bring a pet but found a sitter. I tried to let them know that we weren't going to have a pet but never heard back. We were charged for the pet. Probably my fault. We will stay here again in thre future.

Couldn’t have been any better!
There is absolutely nothing Kyle & Krissy could do to make this property more perfect! They literally have thought of everything, from a crockpot to fans in the bedrooms to sounds machines to block noise. We prepared a full Thanksgiving dinner without issue, enjoyed the hot tub and a fire, and even borrowed a card game and coffee creamer from their well stocked “pantry”. The entire property is picturesque and we ended up doing family photos just outside our cabin. This will now be our go to spot for our frequent trips to Estes Park and RMNP. Thank you for an amazing week!

Too many stairs.
Good overall older cabin. Amenities were well appreciated including the hot tub. The stove needs proper fitting burner pans as pots did not sit level. The toaster and can opener did not work. Tenant needs to know that the cabin sits up on a hill and there are 2 flights of rather steep stairs to the bedrooms. Better pictures of stairs would be helpful. Being high on the hill you hear all the road noise.

Quiet stay in the mountains.
Waking up to the sounds of the river running and the breeze racing down the mountains was so refreshing, This place was magic for us. We loved being able to watch the stars from the hot tub and then cozy up next to a fire after. Have everything you need to make breakfast ( or any other meal) every morning and they had great coffee available that we took advantage of every day. Quiet, cozy and private. Wish we had more time. Would love to come back in the future

We really enjoyed our 2 nights in the couloir cabin. It was spacious and well appointed inside & out and very convenient to Estes Park and RMNP. Better than the pictures, cozy cabin
We had such a fantastic time staying here with friends for our anniversaries! The owners went above and beyond to have everything ready and were available if we needed to reach out. The location was incredible and easily accessible to town but it was so nice to be further out after a day of hiking. The views front and back of the home are beautiful. The covered porch was perfect for when the rain came in and we sat out there and played games for hours. We are ready to come back with a larger group of friends and rent out more cabins! One thing I would be cautious about is staying there with little kids. There is a large rock drop off over the river that is not fenced off. It makes for incredible pictures and views, though. We are so glad we chose this spot and I’m recommending it to anyone headed out that way. Thank you to the owners for hosting such a memorable vacation .
