We had the honour of being the first rental guests in this house and our family of 4 loved it. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcomed. Maro and his Dad, Tihomir, were very patient and understanding when our delayed flight caused a rather late evening arrival. Tihomir showed us where everything was whilst Maro acted as translator. Tihomir had generously stocked the fridge and cupboards with an abundance of food, fruit and wine. He even insisted we helped ourselves to the whisky on the kitchen counter during our stay! A couple of days later we returned from a day trip to find a large tub of ice cream in the freezer for us! Then on our last evening he treated us to a beautiful platter of cheeses & meats, plus a carafe of home-made wine. Such amazing generosity! That being said, our hosts were not intrusive. We had the place to ourselves and only had to call or text Maro if we needed anything. As for the location, it looked picturesque from the pictures on-line, but those photos bear no comparison to seeing the views with your own eyes! Such a gorgeous location up in the hills with wonderful panoramic vista of the mountainous coastline. The village itself is very traditional and rural. We definitely had an 'away-from-it-all' feeling up there. Some of the nearby houses looked like they might be ruins from the war in the 90s. This didn't bother us at all. It felt a safe and pleasant area. Actually it was hard to imagine how such a beautiful area could fall victim to war... Aside from the wonderful pool and the breathtaking views, one of the best things for us was the quiet, efficient air conditioning, which meant we could sleep in comfort, plus the bedlinen, towels and pool towels were clean and fresh. Because of the location you will definitely need a car, although it was only a few minutes drive into nearby Slano, 20 mins to beautiful Ston, 40 mins to historic Dubrovnik and not far from the border of Bosnia & Hezegovina where we escaped the heat on a cave visit (Vjetrenica). If you do rent a car, we’d recommend 4-wheel drive. The parking area for the house is down a very steep, dirt-track drive, and getting back up it proved a bit tricky at times for us with the little Dacia we had hired! All in all, we had a wonderful stay and we will be dreaming of those awesome views for a long time. We were truly sad to leave. Thank you Tihomir and Maro. We will definitely recommend you to our friends!
