Enjoy your dream vacation in what many local ex-pats call their favorite house in Costa Maya! Every room in Casa Tranquila has air conditioning, but most folks prefer to open the doors/windows and listen to the waves gently lapping onto your own private beach! After a day of snorkeling or kayaking, you can grill some burgers and eat dinner in the massive screened sunroom overlooking your private paradise. A caretaker lives on property!
There are enough snorkeling sets for six people provided as well as two kayaks. The water is <6’ for 100 yards off shore. You may see coral formations, eels, eagle rays, conch and schools of fish. The water is very calm due to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef which runs parallel to our beach. Depending on conditions, there will be Saragossa washed up: that’s an issue we can’t control but our on-site caretaker takes to the beach daily to keep it clean. While he is not a service employee for guests, he will help you and bring you fresh coconuts with the tops chopped off so you can drink them right on the beach (please tip him directly at the end of your stay, or daily, as you prefer).
Produce stands upon entering Mahahual offer a variety of delicious fresh fruit and vegetables and many wonderful fresh and dried herbs, as well as some necessity items and staples.
There is a wonderful restaurant/small bar about a quarter mile north (Mayan Beach Garden) and they even deliver! A grill is provided, so remember to bring your charcoal (grill outside the screened in living area so smoke doesn’t get inside the house).
Mahahual is a quaint little fishing village that is about a 25-minute drive It is a wonderful town with plenty of great restaurants where you can grab fantastic food and drinks beachfront at prices you won’t believe! Depending on the day of the week, you may find it to be a the perfect place to take a quiet stroll in the evenings after the cruise ships leave, or bustling and alive with activity and vendors for a fun evening in town!
You can snorkel, scuba dive the second largest barrier reef in the world, charter fishing trips and go after marlin or, if you’re into fly-fishing, go after the elusive grand slam all in one place!
