If you are looking for a vacation rental that is clean, comfortable and safe, with all of the advertised amenities working properly, this is NOT for you.
Be warned! Do not be misled by the pictures posted on VRBO, those were taken many years ago when the units and furniture were in much better shape. In their current condition, these vacation rental units have many deferred maintenance and safety issues, and are not ready to welcome guests (we rented both sides of the duplex from August 27-September 3, 2022.
There were problems with ALL the 3 bathrooms on one side (leaky, unusable shower in the Master’s bathroom, 2 toilets not flushing properly and one was backing up.) Moldy water stains on the ceilings of the living rooms on both sides that smelled musty, caused by previous and current leaky 2nd floor bathrooms. ALL bathroom tubs/shower pads were stained and mildew-y and gross. There was sitting water under BOTH kitchen sinks, we sprayed them for mold. The dishwasher on one side was out-of-order upon our check-in, we handwashed dishes and pots/pans all week. The living room chairs reeked of urine, we had to spray them with Odoban disinfectant and fabric freshener. There were (unsafe) broken dining room chairs and a bar stool, and rusty nails sticking out of a chair. All the HVAC returns were filthy and full of dust. When we moved chairs, table lamps, stepstools, center table, etc. we found dust, dirt, pet food, empty wrappers and a dead cockroach.
Instead of enjoying a relaxing & carefree week of vacation with family members who came from Canada, CA, PA, VA, DE and NJ for this family reunion, a lot of time was spent communicating with the Host and his plumber regarding the multiple plumbing issues. (On a positive note, if you can call it that, the plumber came out twice during the week to fix the plumbing issues but we were unable to use the leaky Master’s shower all week as the seal applied needed 48 hours to dry and a toilet continued to back-up because it was an older toilet, according to the plumber.)
I e-mailed the Host with an itemized list of the maintenance and safety problems we experienced during our stay, supported by photos showing the issues, and asked for a partial refund of our payment due to the maintenance and safety issued we had to deal with. He refused. (I can show the photos we took of this property to anyone interested). I won’t be surprised if he responded to this review and say it's "unfair".
