The property looked like it had been a nursing home, it needed some landscaping outside we felt the security was not good as the main door which was not signposted was open and the room that we were given was unlocked and the door looked like it had had a letter box which was boarded up. „Lovely accommodation equipped with everything plus more. Clean and tidy with modern decor. Lots of extras towels and toiletries, games and TV practically in every room. 4 miles from Tescos and 6 miles from John O'Groats.“

„A really lovely, individual and peaceful property which felt like a home from home. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Gorgeous views of Mey Castle from the coastal path. Lots of local walks and coast to enjoy. Dunnet head and beach only 10 minute drive away. The property had everything you could need from a well equipped kitchen to two lovely log burners, one with built in oven (there is also a normal oven in the property). A very helpful and kind owner. „Sehr schönes Cottage, ruhig gelegen mit herrlichem Ausblick auf die umliegenden Felder. Es ist mit allem ausgestattet, auch schnelles Inet vorhanden. Ideal für Spaziergänge zum Meer. Sehr schön waren die Abende im Old Smiddy Inn (Gasthaus um die Ecke) mit nettem Wirt und Bewohnern von Thrumster. Wir empfehlen das Cottage sehr und kommen gerne wieder.“

„Der Aufenthalt war super. Der Zug, der viermal am Tag hinter dem Haus entlang fuhr, war eine willkommene Abwechslung. Die Stromversorgung erfolgte über einen Generator, der hörbar 24 Stunden am Tag lief. An ihn hatten wir uns schnell gewöhnt und das Geräusch, ein sonores Brummen, konnten wir schnell ausblenden. Sehr viel Landschaft, sehr wenig Menschen. Wer Einsamkeit und ein wenig Abenteuer sucht, ist dort richtig. Anreise kann nicht mit tiefergelegtem Auto erfolgen.“

We are a group of 4 Motorcyclists completing the NC500 and this place has excellent secure bike parking in the courtyard garden. House is very clean and tidy. Perfect for what we wanted at a great price. Property improvement suggestions - put more showers in - just 1 shower between 4 bedrooms, could do with a second one. And lastly a very small thing but an easy fix - get a proper bed for the 4th bedroom (2nd bedroom ...

„The Keeper's Cottage is a real highlight of any holiday. Its remote location surrounded by incredibly stunning scenery, is super relaxing and blissful. It has all the mod cons but also a feeling of living off grid. We loved the isolation and seclusion the property offered and enjoyed many walks with our dog. „Fantastic stay at John O Groats. We had booked a double ensuite room which looked lovely. When we arrived the manager was waiting for us to ask if we would mind if they upgraded our room as the heating wasnt wasnt working. Obviously we didnt mind. Imagine our surprise when we were shown to our upgraded room. They had given us a three bedroomed, two bathroom lodge which was amazing. Warm, comfortable clean and pur luxury. We settled down by the logburner to watch the sea through the huge windows. ...

"The hotel is a bit older in some places. In particular, the beds are really very worn out. However, we have rarely met such incredibly lovely people on our UK road trip. The staff are very welcoming. Even if the building has some deficits, the people make up for it completely."

"It was a fairytale-like experience!!! We felt like noblemen at a wondrous weekend outing! Beautifully refurbished periodhouse, great hospitality, delicious breakfast made with love according to our choice! And all that reasonably priced! If it weren't for the distance, we'd go there once a month. Very recommendable to all Britain fans who have always dreamed of escaping into a veritable "Homes&Gardens" retreat"
