„We have stayed at many places on the river and this property is a new favourite. Lots of thoughtful touches, beautiful location and a lovely place. Great for a large group or two families. We will be back. The owners are also great communicators and were very understanding when we had to shuffle dates. Thank you!“

„It was a beautifully presented house in a perfect location for a quick getaway 10 days before the Christmas period. We had some pretty hot days 40+ so the air con got a massive work out. Not sure if the coffee machine is broken as we had trouble working it. Overall, fantastic little spot to unwind and enjoy family time. “

„We absolutely loved our stay over the Easter long weekend. Communication between the owners was amazing. When we needed anything or had any questions we got prompt response each time. „The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was fine. But the dust was thick on many surfaces - the top of the fridge, microwave, skirting boards, power points, venetian blinds, and doorway. Also the TV had no signal much of the time so I was appreciative of a pack of cards and 50 year old National Geographic magazines to pass the time.“

„Incredibly relaxing stay! Bed was very comfortable (great for my bad back) fireplace in the Lounge Room with lovely outdoor bath was fantastic. I simply loved having a sauna inside the bathroom. When we arrived, we saw our little welcome pack with breakfast provisions for the first day and feed so we could feed the cows, goats and alpacas on the property. “

„What a great place! Loved the presentation, gift basket, stocked fridge, scenery, cleanliness and new feel of the property. Highly recommended.“

„Host was very accommodating however the property description doesn't match reality. Cooking was via a shared barbecue, washing up needed to be done in the bathroom vanity and the restaurant was closed. Most meals required a 20 minute drive to Nairne...or slightly further to Mt Barker. It would be OK for an overnight stay or weekend if you wanted to travel around the Adelaide Hills. Longer stays are very difficult.“

„A fantastic place fully stocked with everything you need for a girls weekend in the Barossa! We didnt have pets, it was perfect for a friends getaway. I initially thought that being pet friendly might compromise quality, but it far exceeded our expectaions. Thank youexpectations.“

„We enjoyed our four night stay at Ashton retreat. We found it a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the established extensive gardens around the retreat.The little touches made it special-a full fruit bowl, fresh milk , a variety of breakfast cereals, fresh coffees and a variety of teas etc. Kate and Andy were very welcoming - - thank you for the delicious homemade berry jam and fresh homegrown rhubarb. We are looking forward to returning in the near future.“

"I normally do not rate hotels, unless they are excellent or awful. This one was a pleasant surprise and excellent value for money. Clean, quiet, superb bed and linens, everything in good working order. And the receptionist was very friendly. Could it be any better? Well, only if you should require a microwave."
