First, I'll state the con. The dishwasher worked intermittently. The first couple of loads were fine. Then it quit doing a full cycle. Then after multiple attempts to get it running, it washed another load. Then quit again. So we used a lot of Styrofoam plates. My biggest complaint about the situation is I texted both contact numbers that were provided and didn't get a response from either party. So the caution here to other visitors is, if something goes wrong, be prepared to handle it yourself.
On a more positive note, the house was exactly what we needed for our family gathering. Instead giving our adult children Christmas gifts, we rented this lake home. The beach and water were perfect for kids and adults. There's plenty of lawn for yard games. The firepit and patio were great gathering areas when we weren't on the beach or in the water.
What to know if you go (this is some of the information I wish I would have found in other reviews).
1. As stated in the home's description, the dining table has 6 chairs. However, by bringing folding chairs we were able to seat 10. Plus the island has seating for several more people.
2. Take a highchair if needed.
3. The pantry and spice cupboard have pretty much all the staples you could want. Cooking oils, vinegar, flour, sugar, soy sauce, and spices of all kinds are all there. It appears that vacationers "contribute" to the pantry by leaving things behind. There are also quite a few refrigerated condiments and dressing. I'd be leery about using those, especially the ones in the garage fridge as it has a hard time keeping things cold on hot days.
4. There are LOTS of toys for younger kids and board games for adults. We had two 3-year old kids in our group and they loved playing with the toys.
5. Laundry soap and dish detergent are provided.
6. The grill is charcoal. We didn't have any charcoal the first day but there was some in the garage to get by with until we bought more.
7. There are skewers for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs.
8. Bring water floats, lawn games and fishing gear.
Perham is only about 9 miles away so if you do need anything, it's easy to get.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
