Big elevated high quaility tent cabin (12'x16' with a 7' covered deack) actually inside the Gorge. Accommodates 2 adults, 2 kids 17 and under, (not 4 adults) and 1 pet with a $25 pet fee. Sleeping mats for kids provided on request. Our goal is to provide a balance between camping and hotel living in a quiet space for couples and parents with kids.
Inside is a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, lamps, outlets, a/c, fan, and heater in cool weather. High quality queen-size bed with, draped mosquito net, comforter, extra blanket, quility linens/towels, and 4 fluffy pillows. Two chairs and a large security box bolted to the deck. We provide locks and keys to the security box. Fire extinguisher on the deck. Windows and doorway have bug screens and zippered closures.
Outside is a picnic table, charcoal grill and grill tools (bring charcoal/lighter), fire-pit with cooking grate, boulders and/or logs for seating around the fire. No need to buy firewood, lots of deadfall on the ground. Please do not cut standing or green wood. Deck overlooks Duncan Branch, a pristine stream who's peaceful gurgling makes for a great nights sleep. Miles of forest service lands surround you. Big cliffs, boulders, deep forest, streams and world class climbing all within walking distance.
The camp is surrounded by forests and actually inside the Gorge. Walk to climbing areas, trails directly from the property. 3-4 minute walk to the Red River. Secluded and surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness. Short drive to all major trail heads. Secured by private locking gate. See our location on the map.
NOTE: This is a high quality tent with lots of amenities......but it's still a tent. Other than the hot water shower, water point, restrooms and the clean stream, there is no running water supply at the tent. The single occupancy restrooms are new, clean, have sinks and flushing toilets, and are well stocked.
What should you bring? Flashlights, lighter, charcoal/lighter fluid, paper plates, disposable spoons/forks, bottled water/drinks, bug spray, and whatever else you think you may need.
Guests are provided the combination to the security gate. Hosts may meet you briefly to orient you to the area, but otherwise will not be on the property. A well maintained road leads to a parking area at the tent. If arriving at night, bring flash lights to see the gate lock combination. Always best to close and lock the gate behind you.
There are many rentals in the area claiming to be "in the Red River Gorge".......almost all of them are not. This is one of the few remaining private properties actually inside the Gorge. Check our location on the map. Walk practically anywhere you like on 40K+ acres of forest service land.
"Red River Adventure", a kayak outfitter, is located nearby and gives our guests a 10% discount on kayak rentals and shuttles. They also have a manager on duty 24/7 if you need assistance. There is limited phone service in the area.
Bring your camping gear - Charcoal, flashlights, lighter, camp ax, and in cold weather extra blankets or sleeping bags. No need to buy firewood, just gather deadfall. Cook on the firepit grate or grill or bring your own camp stove.
The glamper is located in the middle of a wilderness area and many little pests (like mice) and some larger animals (deer, turkey, coyotes) live in the woods. Watch where you step and where you put your hands, while hiking and moving around on the grounds, especially at night.
PET POLICY: You may bring one well behaved dog. Please, no aggressive, barking dogs. All pets must be on a leash and supervised while on the property. Pets will not be left alone in the glampers, or anywhere on the property. Owners must clean-up after their pets. By reserving the glamper, you acknowledge that you are liable for the actions of your pets.
