Mariposa House sits on an elevated position and allows for a far reaching view of the gorgeous Caribbean seas and privacy yet minutes away from everything you could wish for! The entire interior has just been fully re decorated and all new furnishings in every room. It's a perfect place to get away from it all and recharge your batteries, from the tranquillity of the large mature Caribbean gardens to the stunning sea views out to the glistening Caribbean sea as can be seen from the front terrace, to the rear there are equally stunning uninterrupted countryside views where monkeys can be seen regularly. This is also where you will find the entertaining space with swimming pool palms & gardens leading to the large decking area.
Improvements 2022
We have been busy improving the property since we purchased, namely we felt that the house needed a sheltered porch area in case of the odd shower, and also for those who want a little shade, so we installed a porch at the rear complete with lighting, 3 ceiling fans so you can feel cool whilst reading or relaxing and sipping a rum punch! Build in bench seating with comfy cushions, low key lighting for alfresco dining also! We have added safety rails down the front steps for ease of access and safety, we have had new roman blinds installed, upgraded the Wi-Fi to the highest speed possible in Barbados which is an impressive speed, and also added 2 sets of extenders so that all areas including the decking and pool area are covered at high speed. We also installed a UPS, we wanted to ensure that if the power goes off for a short time that you still had internet, this little box will keep the internet powered even during a power outage, just another little convenience upgrade made this year. We upgraded the cctv also to modern eco solar powered cameras, please do let us know if you want any of them turned off or covered, they are there to protect you and the property but should you prefer any of them covered we can arrange this. We have had the decking balustrade replaced, previously we had a dark green wired fence, now we have a typical Caribbean X11X style which has been painted in brilliant white and this has really boosted the aesthetics, and added alot of Caribbean charm ! New statues have been installed, front entrance area has had a new doorway and roofing also. Every room has Sonos now including a sound bar for surround sound in the living room.
Mariposa house is located on the famous platinum west coast on the St James / St Peter border and is within walking distance of Barbados’s best beaches, Gibbs beach and Mullins beach are walkable within 10-12 minutes, or 1-2 mins by car which is recommended for Barbados as there is the whole island to explore with so much to do.
Many of the best restaurants all a short drive or taxi ride away from the house. On foot the nearest restaurant is Chris's place an 8 min walk or 15 mins walk to the Sea Shed, restaurant and Royal Westmoreland Beach Club, Holetown is 6km away with its vast array of amenities including the Limegrove centre with high end fashion shops and restaurants. Massys supermarket selling a vast selection of foods and beverages including the Waitrose range. banks, doctors, cafes, restaurants with the famous “Tides” restaurants, petrol station, La Baguette bakery plus much much more and Speightstown 4.5 kms away where you will find Jordans supermarket, Petrol station and bakery plus much more.
A taxi or car is recommended for the property at night time when venturing out and back as with any location on island, Barbados is best enjoyed with transportation so you can explore, and do some in comfort.
Mariposa House is a 2200 sq ft property which is a very spacious comfortable home and flows very well between all the areas inside and out, the American kitchen complete with breakfast bar is very well equipped and complete with American fridge freezer with cold water and ice, all mod cons are included including bread maker, juicer, coffee machine, microwave, blender etc.. the kitchen connects with the open plan living room which leads out to the terrace where a fabulous Caribbean sea view can be seen beyond the gardens palm trees. From there leads to a light and airy dining hall which can seat up to 6 people, from here you can also access the amazing pool area complete with decking ,sun-loungers, bar seating, outside dining area for 6, and the rear facing garden's with private countryside/gully views as far as the eyes can see.
At night fireflies can be seen and the enchanting sounds of the whistling / singing frogs. By day monkeys can be seen in the gully which also belongs to the property. Back inside there is a laundry room for your use, or if you wish to opt for daily cleaning your maid can do this for you. WC, along the corridor are three bedrooms, frontwards double bedroom has views of the Caribbean sea air conditioning, fitted wardrobes, hairdryer, tv and access to the jack n jill with bedroom 2 with en-suite complete with shower, bidet, toilet, vanity unit also with sea views. Bedroom 3 with king-size bed has similar description with side garden view and a sea view bathroom .
The master bedroom is a luxurious suite complete with air conditioning and represents 1/4 of the size of the property, smart tv, sonos, and views to countryside/gully with access to the rear gardens through double sliding doors, sink, fitted granite vanity, sofa and shays long, super king sized bed , ceiling fan , alarm control panel, an envious walk in wardrobe complete with safe and ample storage. The bedroom then leads to an en-suite expansive spa style bathroom with jacuzzi bath , luxury walk in wet room massage shower, twin vanity units, separate toilet with bidet and vanity sink all tiled floor to ceiling with granite countertops.
Overall Mariposa house makes you feel that from the moment the electric gates close behind you, that you are on holiday and can feel right at home relaxing in paradise, not only is the property luxurious you have both inland rural hillside views and far reaching sea views with amazing sunsets.
You can feel safe and secure, secluded and relaxed, the gardens are fully enclosed and the automatic irrigation keeps the mature gardens green and vibrant as with the various lawns.
The modern Caribbean stylish decor with Caribbean and Versace themed wallpapers really set this house apart. All that's needed now is a rum-punch, or gin and tonic or both! ….and YOU!
