Waste of money
On the day of check-in I was to receive the code for the door. I did not. Instead I received a call from the maintenance man asking me to turn off the hose to the pool. I said I’m not even there yet. So I guess he had to go over there and take care of it. Meanwhile we continued trying to reach homeowner for door code. After hours of no response we had to call the maintenance guy for the code. Strike one.
Arriving at the house we found packages on the porch which we carried inside for the homeowner. But once inside we were hit with a horrific moldy smell that had us covering our faces. We actually decided right then that we would not be staying, so we carried our belongings back out to the car and left for our event.
However, our event lasted longer than expected and we needed to spend the night in town, so we grudgingly went back to the house to sleep. We were inside the house for 5 hours and suffered congestion and headaches from it.
Also, side note I don’t believe the bedding was washed and there was actual trash in the kitchen cabinets, and food left on a cook top. The backyard pool area was filthy - toys and lifejackets thrown everywhere.
I paid $550 because I saw great reviews for this house. I hope my honest review saves someone from getting scammed the way we did.
Before submitting this review I contacted the homeowner about my visit. It’s been two weeks and I’ve received no response. I’m not surprised.
