Turn the clock back to 1895 when trains from the Santa Fe Railway blew their whistles as they pulled into town and a small house on a new street called Forest Avenue is being built. As time moved on, Great Bend grew with influxes of oil drillers, farmers, and the occasional traveler settling down. The Forest Bungalow has evolved over the years from coal fireplaces to gas floor furnaces and now a modern HVAC system. Additions to the original structure include a back porch turned into a mudroom, and a wraparound covered porch to enjoy coffee on a beautiful morning. Original wood floors with a mocha stain flow through the house and are complimented by tall baseboards.
When you walk into the back of the house, take off your boots and hang your coat in the mudroom. The main bedroom in the house has beautiful original French doors that open to a queen and twin bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a large mirror for getting ready. Fourth bed is a comfortable pull out queen in the couch. This historic house is perfect for any hunting crew, traveler passing through, or for visiting family in town.
