By the end of the week we loved our stay at this house in Locke Mills. It charmed its way right into our hearts. We drove up from the Gulf Coast to explore Maine. The price point of the house in regards to its size was a huge plus. Getting there we were a little taken aback at first. It looked older than it’s pictures. Going inside, though, we quickly saw how warm and cozy the house was. We always book a house with a game room. The bumper pool and darts kept my teens (and myself) well occupied. The WiFi also kept “50 ping” on Fortnite apparently. Huge plus. The biggest challenge we had was that all of the bedrooms were upstairs, which we did not see specified when booking. We traveled with our mothers, one 70+, and they were concerned about climbing up the rather steep stairs. They persevered, however, and the comfortable beds and abundant bedrooms proved very accommodating. The house also came well stocked with all of the necessary toiletries and linens, including a brand new washer and dryer. This in itself was a huge plus for our weeklong stay. The only other issue we found was in the water pressure. It sputtered and spat it’s way out of the faucets. The host kept a water cooler with abundant jugs on site, however; so, that became only a minor inconvenience. The house is situated very close to grocery stores, shops, and restaurants in Bethel. We enjoyed the quaintness of the village. We also enjoyed exploring the area, even kayaking the Androscoggin. The house has plenty of brochures concerning things to do in the area. If you do go in the summer, be aware that a lot of the attractions close during the week. We still found lots to do, even driving into Portland and setting off to Bar Harbor. All-in-all we loved the house, would recommend it to those looking for a spacious house at a great price, and made lots of memories! 4 stars for sure.
