This is a pet friendly home for one small dog, under 20 pounds. Pets must be pre-approved. An additional non-refundable pet fee is required and is not included in the rental fee. Please call our office for approval and to pay the pet  fee. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $1000.00 fine.

Only adults (25 years old and older) may reserve this property and an adult must occupy the property at all times.

This charming 3BR/3BA cottage has been completely renovated and remodeled and features a huge stone fireplace in the great room and a first floor primary bedroom. From the front door, turn right and enjoy all the conveniences of being within easy walking distance of your favorite shops and restaurants in downtown Highlands – or turn left and you’re at the trailhead of the Highlands Greenway system – offering over 10 miles of natural trails and sidewalks that are open and free to the public daily from sunrise to sunset.

Grayling Cottage features beautiful hardwood flooring, reclaimed hand-hewn ceiling beams in the vaulted living room, designer kitchen with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, stone fireplace with gas logs and remote control, lovely landscaping and hardscaping, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a Tesla Destination Charging station.  Parking is limited to two cars but there is additional parking across the street.   Park in front of the house and follow the path up the large stone steps to the entrance of this lovely home.

Conveniently located and less than a 5-minute walk to Main Street in downtown Highlands with easy access to Kelsey Hutchinson Park right across the street. The Highlands Recreation Center, pool, dog park, and skate park are right next door so whether it's outdoor activities or dining & shopping, everything is right outside the front door!

Cancellation Policy

Policy (A)  for reservations less than 20 days:
A reservation canceled between 0-45 days prior to arrival is not eligible to receive a refund. If more than 45 days notice is given, the renter shall receive a refund of all payments made, less a cancellation fee of 10% of the Total Cost of the Reservation.

Policy (B) for reservations of 20 days or more and reservations made 6 months in advance:
NO refund is given unless the property is re-rented under the same terms (Trip insurance is available and recommended to help protect your trip).

Great house. Need electric ports for universal ports not just Tesla The walk up steps could be issue for rainy or snowy day. Great setting. Enjoyed the area. Clients should not need to use their check out time doing towels etc as part of their short time allocation or services they paid for.

Weekend away in highlands
The cabin was perfect! So clean, spacious and amazing location to town! We took a long weekend with our 6 month old before I went back to work from MAT leave and this was the perfect spot. Could easily walk to town, hikes and a ton of space! Management was easy to contact and when we had a thermostat issue, they quickly came out and fixed it! Highly recommend and will be staying there again!

Fabulous location and super clean
I decided to bring my small work team to the Highlands since we are all remote employees. It was the best decision and we all enjoyed the location walking everywhere. Even though it wasn’t “in-season” every place was hopping. It was very quiet and super clean interiors. We will all be back again when season opens back up. We walked to Wolfgang’s for dinner and had a great lunch at the ugly dog public house and the server was absolutely incredible. The grayling cottage was such a great little find. Three bedrooms with bathrooms! Huge plus especially since we all valued our own privacy. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms and kitchen were spotless! The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast each morning. I cannot say enough about this rental. We had plenty of room to spread out and a big table to have our laptops opened enjoying conversation! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home! We will definitely be back!!

Fall Leaves Trip
The Grayling Cottage is an ideal location for those who want to be able walk around downtown and never get in the car. We walked to dinners, shopping, the Old Edwards Inn spa and even some nearby trails for a hike. There's a great restaurant/bar called The Stubborn Seed located directly across the street. The steps to get up to the house are steep and rugged and could be a challenge to people carrying large bags or heavy groceries, or for those who aren't mobile. There was some light road noise, but that's to be expected from a house so close to town. The house was comfortable and had all the basics for an enjoyable trip. We are giving the management company 3 stars for 2 reasons: First, I contacted them in advance to inquire if the house provided hair dryers so we would know whether or not to pack them. The email response stated that all bathrooms had hairdryers. (Just fyi, the room with the 2 twin beds did not. This isn't a huge deal but could've been avoided with better communication) Our second issue was that the gas fireplace would not operate while we were there. We followed instructions very carefully in the house manual but had no luck. We contacted management twice, but no one offered helpful information. We were told they would "try" and send someone out but never heard from them again and they didn't respond to a subsequent message. This was a big disappointment considering the weather was chilly. A fire would have made the weekend complete.

We enjoyed the home’s location. It was so easy to walk to town. Everything was nice and clean. The bed sheets need to be replaced with new linens. The only other negative was . The 14 front steps made it very difficult to enter the house with luggage & groceries. Much too steep for older guests.

Grayling Cottage was perfect for our weekend in Highlands for a wedding. The house is walkable (<5 mins) to downtown. The downstairs area is nice and spacious. Everything was in great condition and very clean. Each of the rooms is comfortably sized. One thing to note, the house is up a few rock stairs, if that impacts anyone in your party. We would absolutely return to stay in the future.

Cozy Family Getaway
My family enjoyed staying at this property together and the close proximity to everything in town! I think the pictures online were very accurate and we felt at home here. We loved turning on the fire place with the click of a button while we were there during an October cold front! There could stand to be a larger TV in the living room and the master shower floor is slightly uncomfortable on the feet but nothing that would prevent us from renting this property in the future!

Needs a Refresh
The home is in an excellent location for walkability, but we were disappointed to find that the photos online made it look larger, brighter and did not look like it needed a paint and furniture refresh. It does. The deck is in a very worn state as well. Another thing we did not see in the listing, maybe we missed it, is that there is only one tv in the home. None of the bedrooms had tv’s. For the price you are paying and in other homes we have rented in Highlands, there are tv’s in all bedrooms. They tell you that the steps are not for the elderly or walking impaired and you need to heed that warning. We are neither, but they were quite inconvenient when you consider how many times you have to go up them to unload your car and then back and forth all day. They are stone “blocks” and are staggered in shapes and sizes so you have to be careful not to misstep.
