I understand that things happen and there are extenuating circumstances, but this felt like a bait and switch, book me into a nicer hotel, then not have rooms in that hotel and place me in a worse one for same price. I can’t speak to the Sapphire Hotel itself, as I never saw a room, but can speak to my experience.
When I arrived, after dark after traveling for the day, I was told I’d be staying across the way at her ‘mother’s house’ (eventually realized she meant hotel). I was open minded and went to look. Room was not the quality I thought I had booked, but looked quickly at expedia/hotels.com/hostelworld and were no other real options.
Didn’t seem like air conditioner was working, so I sent a whatsapp message. When I went downstairs someone was there to show me that the breaker had to be turned on. Satisfied it would be fine, I went out to dinner. When she responded to the whatsapp I told her it was figured out. After I got back to room, I learned the a/c only worked for a few minutes, then needed to be manually reset. Not long enough to cool down the room, and didn’t want to open windows to let even more bugs in than were already flying around. When I mentioned this morning about the a/c not working, she said I told her on whatsapp it was fine.
The Rice Hotel they put me in was not even listed on Expedia or Hotels.com, which spoke to the quality to me. The Rice room has dirty sheets when I pulled back the top sheet, so switched to other bed, also dirty.
