When you step into this home, you will feel the stress of life fall away. There is something about River Life that just slows things down. You will Relax, Renew and make Memories! Be sure to bring your fishing gear. 2 Kayaks and 2 life jackets will be provided. You can bring your canoes, boats, and wave runners also.
No matter which season you choose, there will always be some sort of wildlife for your enjoyment. In the spring you may see families of geese with their new little ones, and if you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of wood ducks with their babies. These are more difficult to see because they are much more skittish. Be sure to bring your Binoculars!!!
In the summer the river comes alive with bait fish schooling and bass chasing them. Bring your Fishing Gear!!!
The white egrets will be seen along with blue herons. Since you’re staying across from Bald Eagle Holler, you may see eagles!! Google the Call the eagles make, and this will help you identify them. The young eagles will not have a white head and are more difficult to identify.
In the fall the bluffs will be showing off their beautiful colors! We have resident geese that stay all winter, maybe they prefer our company instead of the Cold North???
In the late fall and early winter, flocks of American white pelicans arrive. These are the second largest bird in the U.S. As they fly over the water they look like a string of pearls. You may even hear the loud rushing sound as they corral a large school of bait fish and watch the feeding frenzy begin. These pelicans are not vocal so they sound you will hear are their wings. It’s really amazing!
No matter the time of your visit, we hope you will experience the sights and the joy of living on the Elk River!
