Could Have Been A Good Review, But Owner Hasn't Given Promised Refund
The home wasn’t cleaned when we checked in on the evening of 12/21. Pools of grease on the stove, dirty sheets on the dryer, dirty dishes, bathrooms uncleaned. Marcus called shortly after check-in and was apologetic, explaining that his property manager hadn’t told him the house was rented that evening. Housekeeping had only partially cleaned due to the firing of the manager. Marcus offered to have a crew come over, but it was late & we had 2 dogs. We told him we would make do. He offered to refund 50% of our rental payment. We agreed & the conversation ended amicably.The morning of 12/22 I let Marcus know that we had vacated the home. He apologized again. I thought he was a 1st class guy for tackling the issue head-on & thanked him for his evening phone call.On 1/1, I received an email from Marcus asking me for a review. This reminded me about the promised refund, so I checked our credit card and saw that no refund had been processed. That same day, I sent Marcus an email asking him to look into it. As of this writing, 1/3, he has not responded.I am disappointed & I feel like a chump. Perhaps he never intended a refund or perhaps there is an innocent explanation for his unresponsiveness. I have no idea.I’m not reviewing cleanliness, etc. here as I accept his explanation. Prior reviews are generally good. I don’t like writing negative reviews. But I especially don’t like feeling like a dupe. I can’t in good conscience rate this home highly nor recommend it.
