I booked here as its close to my work. It was my first time there. Upon entering, the lobby area (late on a Saturday evening) was quite dirty from construction being performed. Checking in was effortlessly done! Desk clerk was very cordial. I began noticing the condition of this hotel upon entering the hallway/elevator. Its far from being new, shiny as i might expect a HI Express to be. Ive stayed many times in this brand before. The room was very poor condition. Such so, i immediately checked for bed bugs and cleanliness, specifically sheets and the bathroom. I found no evidence of bugs. But, areas of the floor between the beds and under the headboard were not vacuumed in some time (debris was clearly seen.) The bathroom was pretty much clean, though below and around the toilet had smudges of some substance, not clean. Inspecting the sheets, one bed had a fitted sheet with major wear visible. I choose not to sleep in that bed. The desk, closet, headboards, etc, were quite old and worn on edges and corners. Very dated looking furniture. I tossed around the idea of leaving and demanding a refund, but because it was late; i was tired after driving a long time in ice and snow... i choose to stay. I hope its evident ive been employed in hotel/resort maintenance for many years in the past. This hotel needs some serious work.
