Even though we have been fortunate to visit many places around the world and stay in a variety of accommodations, this lovely cabin/apartment in Carrabassett Valley, ME ranks as one of our family favorites - especially for skiing. We enjoyed the peaceful, residential setting, the feeling of being secluded in the forest, while delightfully connected to the slopes via the convenient Sugarloaf Explorer Shuttle. Sleeping arrangements were ideal, with a queen bedroom for my wife and I, and a loft with two twins for our teen kids. The kitchen was well appointed, with enough dishes, cookware, dishwasher, etc, for us to make daily breakfasts/dinners. The living room was very comfortable. The apartment-sized washer/dryer was perfect for drying gloves/hats after a day of skiing to set us up the next day. Wall and baseboard thermostats kept us at our preferred indoor temperature. Ample windows brought the outdoors inside, with fantastic views of forest and the mountain. Besides these functional elements, the space itself is charming (especially compared to many 80s ski condos that you see online.) It is a well cared for unit, tastefully decorated and in very good condition.
Finally, a few words about our hosts. We feel especially grateful to have met and casually conversed with hosts Kim, Dave, and two of their children. Each interaction reinforced the feeling of being extraordinarily welcome. Kim was incredibly responsive and thoughtful by text and in person. We couldn't have been more thrilled with how the space worked for us!
