A friend and i were looking for a getaway before the season begins, and as we had to be in Portland for a medical appointment, we decided to go to Portsmouth for a few days.
What a lucky mistake i made. Instead i found Darryl’s place, and didn’t read that his rental was actually in Kittery. Well! How fortunate!
After a horribly fraught day, we arrived in Kittery, found our house, and settled in. It was perfect in every way…healing , inviting…comfort plus!
Although it is right downtown, after dark you won’t hear anything unless a motorcycle makes itself known. There’s a nice porch and Adirondack chairs to enjoy the night breeze, and even a grill should you be inclined to cook.
But that’s not necessary. There are two restaurants on that very block and another at the corner..several more around the corner.
Darryl has thought of most everything you could need in the kitchen. The fridge has an ice maker, appliances are stranger friendly, and light is adequate without turning on the ceiling lights.
And then the beds. So so so comfortable. Cotton sheets. All the windows open you can sleep without a/c on good nights.
Bathrooms are well supplied with linens and shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap.
Next morning pour a cuppa, , sit outside and listen to Revielle and then the National Anthem coming from the naval base. What a great start to the day.
Blessings, Darryl . Thank you!
