The South Point Retreat has been meticulously renovated and decorated with special touches. It is cozy and comfortable. Nice quality towels, soaps and shampoo/conditioner provided in both bathrooms is a nice touch. The beds are comfortable with quality bedding. We were the first guests to visit so Gerry and his wife graciously greeted us at the home to go over some details. We did learn upon arrival that the gas stove had not yet been hooked up, but an induction burner was provided. Not ideal for indoor cooking but we made it work. Also, the property is not as "secluded" as we were anticipating. While the trees will provide some privacy during spring/summer/fall, we felt it was important to note that there is a neighbor that is very close. We did not see the neighbors or their dogs during the day but the dogs were let out late at night (midnight and later both nights) and woke us up with barking. My husband looked out at one point and saw the dogs, one being very large, running loose in our yard and barking at the front door. The neighbors clearly do not contain their dogs to their property. I understand the hosts cannot control what the neighbors do, but we have young kids and had we encountered the dogs during a time that we were outside I would not have appreciated that. We are dog owners ourselves and love dogs, but I do not trust dogs that I do not know. I feel this is a serious safety concern and I could not in good conscience leave it out of the review.
