Arriving alone (at the last minute hubby had to stay home with a sick pet) late in the afternoon in the middle of a rare (for the area) rainstorm, it was a wonderful surprise to find the fresh eggs and cheese in the refrigerator so I didn't have to venture back out again that rainy evening.
The 2-bedroom apartment above a barn is clean and well appointed. It was very quiet at night - except for a few horses whinnying early in the evening and the occasional croaking frog. After about 9am it is completely quiet and dark. On a clear night probably great for star-gazing. The directions the homeowner provided were perfect, but I still suggest arriving before dark the first night so you can more easily find your way.
In the morning, from the window in the dining room I was able to see the farm waking up (there are lots of horses and the place is surrounded by corrals) - feeding horses, mucking corrals, chickens and cats wandering. I grew up with horses so I enjoyed my stay on The Farm, but if you aren't keen on farm life, horses, or dirt you might find somewhere else more to your liking. If you are, I think you will find this a nice getaway with the feeling of living on a farm.
