Within a short drive you can be in the heart of Lyme Regis with its picturesque harbour, sandy beach, renowned Cobb where you can fossil hunt, fish, swim, go boating or simply wander around the quaint shops and restaurants in this characterful resort. The Heritage coast itself has many smaller seaside resorts you can visit, stretching from Exmouth in the west, or all the way to Weymouth and Portland in the east, taking the scenic coast road from West Bay and Bridport, with its superb views overlooking the Chesil Beach. There is a wealth of family activities and attractions to enjoy, ranging from the donkey sanctuary, River Cottage, Forde Abbey and Gardens, and Broadwindsor Craft Centre, to Crealey Adventure Park near Exeter, and south Somerset, with its Fleet Air Arm Museum, all of which are within easy reach. You will certainly have plenty to do - perhaps taking the dogs walking along the coastal path and climbing up Golden Cap, the highest point in the south of England.
