Disappointing experience
The only positives: great and unique location, located directly next to the entrance of Macchi Picchu. The Concierge - Carmen, was extremely professional, charming and helpful.
The hotel decor and amenities are extremely outdated, with very small basic rooms and even tinier bathrooms, which you might expect from a Holiday Inn Hotel at the airport bu not from a Belmond Luxury Lodge. We have booked a deluxe room and it was overlooking the bus station and the standard rooms overlooked a fence/wall. The lobby was overcrowded and the staff seemed overwhelmed at times. No welcome drinks/refreshment towels offered, which you would expect from a luxury hotel. Significant language barriers as staff barely speaks English and are not trained, especially the ones in the restaurant.
No hotel shuttle offered and the only way to reach the hotel is by taking a public bus with huge queues as thousands of people visit the site every day and limited bus operating hours, so an evening check in is impossible.
Overall, despite the unique location next to the entrance, it was a very disappointing value for money and totally overpriced for the experience and services offered.
