We have just returned from a wonderful vacation in Saint Lucia, and this apartment was one of the ‘Stars in the Show’ in our holiday experience.
Occupying the top floor of the building, the flat is very large, and is attractively decorated in cottage style white wicker, accented with colourful fabrics – couches, cushions and window seats. The French doors to the balcony open to the panorama of Marigot Bay with the comings and goings of the cruising yachts, the super yachts and the colourful small boats selling woven hats and bananas. We spent hours on the balcony over breakfasts, lunches and sun downers, all the while watching this activity.
We are recreational boaters ourselves, so it was fun watching the seamanship of the super yacht crews, who are in charge of very, very expensive boats.
As a location, Marigot Bay is centrally located in Saint Lucia, so exploring north to Castries, Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island is an easy jaunt. South to Soufriere, the Pitons, and the plantations is an hour’s drive, give or take.
We found that the grocery at the marina had most of our requirements, particularly after the super yachts started to arrive. A larger market is a short taxi ride away.
The restaurants around Marigot Bay are all excellent and we would encourage visitors to try them all.
A huge plus for us was access to the adjacent five star resort hotel with its two beautiful infinity pools. Several times we spent the whole day enjoying swimming, reading our books and appreciating the sushi and other tasty offerings at the pool side bar.
The team who will look after you in the most friendly and efficient manner include Simon, the owner, Pauline who will check you in and out and answer all your questions as to what to see and how things work in the apartment and in Saint Lucia, and Cornelius who you will meet if you decide to take a fast ride in ‘Smooth Operator’ his colourful , open 26 foot skiff.
