Welcome to all skiers/snowboarders, anglers, hunters, boaters, and anyone who needs a special place to get away from the stressors of life. RV/trailer parking, .46 acre lot, hot tub, wood stove, and frequent animal sightings!
Year-round beauty, uncommonly friendly locals, and abundant opportunities for outdoor activities are what make McCall one of the most magical places we've been to. When we first saw the A-frame home, it felt like something out of a fairytale. Running with that theme, we created a space with the intent of filling guests with childlike wonder. Watching deer graze a few feet away from the windows, cozying up around the wood stove to watch a classic movie, and sitting around the dining table to talk about the activities of the day will make you lose track of time in the best possible sense. Our goal is give people the vacation that they deserve- one with a mix of relaxation, joyful experiences, and the proper setting to connect with the people you care about. We hope you choose The Fairytale House as your vacation destination and that you find it to be as magical as we do.
House Manual
Fee Transparency: The only fees hosts have control over are the cleaning fees and pet fees. We charge $150 per stay for cleaning even though it costs us around $300 per stay to clean, including weekly hot tub cleanings. The pet fee is $50 per stay for up to four dogs for the extra wear and tear on the home. The “guest services fee” is what Airbnb/Vrbo charges and keeps. Taxes are also out of our control, of course. We want to keep fees as low as possible. Unfortunately, McCall is a pricier area when it comes to taxes.
Sleeping Arrangements: We have four bedrooms plus a queen size pull out couch. Four queens and two twin beds total. Please note that one of the upstairs bedrooms is open to the common area and has a divider for privacy. The other three are fully enclosed. Extra blankets and pillows are in a bin by the front door.
Parking and Logistics:
Please park in the main garage, driveway, or along the woodshed on the left side of the house. No parking on the street, as it may result in fines.
RV/trailer parking is available for up to two vehicles. Contact us for more details.
Note: Additional vehicles beyond 4 outside and 1 in the garage will result in a $200 fine.
House Rules:
Smoking: Smoking is not allowed inside the house.
Pets: We allow up to four dogs. Please clean up after them and prevent any damage to the property. There are extra pet towels for dogs in the laundry room. Do wash pets in the showers/tubs, as their nails create scratch marks.
Noise: Respect quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am to maintain a peaceful environment for our neighbors.
Safety and Facilities:
-Please keep wall heaters off when not in use.
-Be cautious with the vintage oven, as it tends to run hot. Be sure to turn it off after you are done.
-Always monitor candle/incense use and ensure they are extinguished before leaving the property.
-There are emergency lights and gas detectors plugged into many of the outlets for your safety. Do not remove these devices.
-Do not lean on exterior railings.
-An exterior camera actively records video and audio at the front porch and driveway for security purposes only.
Additional Information:
-Wildlife, including deer and bears, are common in the area. Do not feed the wildlife, and ensure the bear-proof trash bins are properly closed.
-Enjoy the hot tub and make sure it's covered after use. Extra cleaning due to unsanitary conditions may incur a $250 charge. Extra towels are in the kitchen pantry.
-If excess garbage accumulates, take garbage out to the two brown bins located in front of the garage. Make sure latches are properly closed.
-Use the wood stove for additional heat, following the provided instructions located on the wall by the stove.
-The ash bucket for the wood stove is located outside by the door to the porch off the dining room. Do not place ashes in the trash bins.
-The setback for the wood stove is 14.5 inches. Do not leave any items within that distance from the stove.
-Pullout couch: The mattress topper, sheets, and blankets for the pullout couch are located in a bin next to the couch or by the TV.
-Heating: The furnace runs on propane and will run out of gas very quickly in the winter if the thermostat is set too high. Please keep the settings below 72 degrees. Use wall heaters and wood stove for additional heat at night. Make sure they are shut off when not in use. The wood on the porch off of the dining room is available for you to use.
-Showers and tub: Always test the water temp before getting in the shower/tub. The second level shower has different handles for heat and pressure. Do not pull these out towards you or you will break the handles.
-Reviews: Please be sure to leave us a 5 star review and we will return the favor! If your experience was anything less than 5 stars, reach out to let us know how we can resolve any concerns and improve future stays. Even one 4 star review can hurt future business, so we greatly appreciate your communication and will work to resolve issues immediately.
