Family friendly, full linens provided, professionally cleaned, split systems AC/heater, large private 150m2 courtyard, private outdoor deck/dining area, BBQ, outdoor hot/cold shower, ceiling fan, kitchen, indoor fireplace, bath tub, onsite parking with space for boats. The Dolphin is 1 of 2 side-by-side townhouses on the site.

The Space:
Salvage of a Mornington Peninsula Beach Shack
MP Cottages was originally a humble beach shack that has now been tastefully restored into the charming cottage it is today. The cottages boast elements of its original features, including Tasmanian oak floorboards, combined with contemporary features that include a modern kitchen and bathroom.

A Quiet Family Holiday or Romantic Get-away
The Dolphin is best suited for small families or couples. It is only a flat 250m walk to the beaches of Port Phillip Bay. Families and their pets play in the shallow water of the beaches. It is in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, where locals and visitors are living in the same pocket.

The Space
The home has plenty of space with an open plan living area, comprising of kitchen, living area with a 55” TV, indoor fireplace and a ceiling fan. The kitchen has a cook top, fridge/freezer, rangehood, mixer with water filter and oven. It has a total of 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other bedroom has a bunk bed with 2 singles and a TV/DVD combo. They all have split system AC/heaters. The living room has a bi-folding door access to the deck and private courtyard. There is an outdoor hot/cold shower which is very handy after a day on the beach. There is a large bathroom with a wet area comprising of a shower and a freestanding bathtub. We supply soap, shampoo and conditioner. We also provide a drying rack and clips for your beach clothing.

Private Courtyard
There is plenty of space for your children and furry friend to run around and play while you sit and enjoy the sunshine from our large deck and courtyard. The courtyard can be viewed from the living room, through its 3 meters bifolding doors which can be fully opened up. It has 2 meters high brush fence all around for your privacy. The courtyard is 150+ square meters in size with room for some father-son footy! There is a set of outdoor dining furniture for 4 and BBQ on our deck.

For children we also provide high chairs, bowls, cups, toys and books. There are also DVDs and board games for the family. For your furry friends we provide a bowl, a blanket, a towel, a brush and some toys. We don’t allow pets getting onto our furnitures. We use vacuum cleaner with allergy filter to remove animal hair as much as possible.

Full Linen and Professional Operation
Full linens is provided (towels, bed linens, pillows, blankets, quilts). The place is professionally cleaned, inspected and prepared before each stay. We learn your time of arrival and switch lights, AC/fan on prior.

Vehicle and Boat Parkings
Our premise provides onsite parking. It has a 3 meters wide vehicle gate which comes with a coded padlock. It has 2 meters high fence along its street facing boundaries. It has space to park at least one vehicle, or your boat, jet ski and kayaks. Your privacy is our priority.

Cottages Location and Site Plan
The Dolphin is located in Rye, Victoria. It is just 250m from the Rye bay beach, a flat 800m walk to nearby shops, cafes, supermarket and restaurants. It is one of 2 side-by-side cottages on the premise.

Update 22/3/2018: We completed upgrades including improved sound proofing, mixer with water filter, new sofa, iron & ironing board, plus many small enhancements, addressed our guests’ feedback.

Guest Access:
The entire house, onsite parking, and yard.

Other Things to Note:
Pets are allowed but our backyard is not 100% fully fenced. Shouldn't be a problem if your furry friend isn't an escape artist or have that demeanor as it is just a hole under the gate but still not 100% fully fenced nonetheless.

We don't rent to students group and will not allow for parties nor schoolies. We don't rent to parents who book for their children to stay, which violates the insurance which protects our guests.

** PLEASE NOTE: if guests get locked out of the apartment, we may be able to help with spare key but we will have to charge a service fee for the time and delivery (pending availability and distance). After 8 pm and on the weekend, rates may go up. If we are not able to help, it will be the guest’s responsibility to call a locksmith at their own cost. **

Nice if you are a dog lover
A nice property except the horrid smell of dog wee throughout. Main bed comfy but kids beds were missing both safety rails so not ideal at all for young ones. Living room TV is ancient and didn’t have Netflix for kids and AC only had one remote working. Bath had no tap so not sure why it was even there. Owner was great with communication and if the smell was taken care of and maybe improve it for kid friendly we would stay again.

Great location
Great unit for a weekend away. Very quiet and private, great sunny courtyard for children and fury friend or just to enjoy the sun. Walking distance to the beach. A/c in the living room would be a good addition. The bi fold doors open fully to let air in , however this gives mozzies and other bugs full access.

Nice little cottage/re-vamped beach house
The cottage was quite comfortable, note the main bedroom had a double bed, the second bedroom, 2 single beds. Not many properties have double beds any more, mostly Queen or King size beds. It was a little strange that the entry to the cottage was via the second bedroom, if anyone was sleeping in that room it would be an issue. Need to provide your own firewood, it was in the Ts&Cs but I didn't see it. All in all a lovely stay for two good friends and a dog, very pet friendly with fences and gates.

Family stay
We enjoyed our stay at Dolphin house but we were a bit disappointed in some things lacking for our family. While it is pet friendly accommodation, we found dog faeces all on the lawn (my kids were dodging to play outside), there were some missing dinner sets, soap was listed for showering and was absent and family friendly items listed, were minimal (games and movies), with one game/one dvd. It was close to where we wanted to be for a good price, but for our family weekend away, we were disappointed that items were lack lustre.

Great location & comfortable accommodation
A neat property with comfortable beds & a lovely bathroom. The fridge is a bar fridge. It is located in a quite street & a 10 minute walk to the beach.
