We are from NE Ohio, always in search of a unique property to check out, away from busy city life. Being the first guests, with no reviews to go by, we weren’t sure what to expect. Off the beaten path, as we approached River Vista, our jaws dropped and we both said out loud “WOW.” The property is breathtaking, like something you’d see in a movie! River Vista sits off the river and is surrounded by Marsh and creeks, full of wildlife, and is a birders paradise! Be sure to bring your binos and camera because you won’t be able to put them down!
River Vistas apartment is perfect for 2 people. When we opened the door, again, our response was “WOW! This is new construction, and decorated beautifully with a peaceful coastal vibe. It has EVERYTHING you would need to make you feel totally comfortable and “at home.” And the view from the apartment, out of the back door, is a super neat surprise!
We had our bikes with us, and were able to bike the area easily to explore the historical Fort Morris site and ride up and down the sand/gravel roads. If you have a boat, this is also a great place to explore/fish/crab the Medway River and surrounding coastal areas. There’s a public boat launch in the area and you can rent a spot at the Sunbury Crab Company, which is within walking/biking distance of River Vista. The closest place to eat, with limited seating and hours, is the Sunbury Crab Company. It’s very casual open air eating and an island vibe for sure, and has a beautiful view!
If you need to be near restaurants, coffee shops, shopping or easy site seeing, this is not the place for you. If you’re looking to escape and unplug from life, this is the place for you, stay here! It’s far enough away from the hustle bustle of city life, but close enough for day trips to Savannah (about 30-35 mins). The views, nature, serenity and welcoming comfort, are everything you need to feed the soul. The homeowner, Lorin, and property manager, Dana, also made for an easy stay. You can communicate as much or as little, and they were so helpful in telling us about the area and places to go.
The historical “forgotten town” of Sunbury, with its breathtaking views and one of the most beautiful spots we’ve ever stayed, will stand out as a great memory, and we will never forget it. And so much thanks goes to the homeowners for their welcoming kindness, sharing their little piece of heaven with all of us to experience.
