Dear prospective guest,
We own two historic and beautiful homes in Wales, Wisconsin. One of the homes I raised my children in. We have warm homes, and we are warm people. I am a Pastor, and my wife is a teacher, and we are now empty nesters and manage these properties. We care about you having a great stay at our home.
Please read our reviews to see how much our guests have testified positively about their experience with us.
We desire to rent to guests who diligently care for our home and treat our neighbors respectfully. There is quite a bit of privacy with this home from May through October. We do not allow large parties. Non-overnight guests are permitted with message permission from us ahead of time, but not in large quantities. We certainly do not allow college-age drinking parties.
We also want our guests to know we have installed outdoor-only security cameras. We care about our guests having a good experience! Please read all the house rules before booking.
If you have an even larger group and need two homes, we have another fantastic historic home only one mile away. Book these homes early, as they book every weekend and nearly every day of the summer.
We will start with the bedrooms and beds!
We have four bedrooms upstairs and a master bedroom suite on the main level. In the master bedroom, be warmed by a gas fireplace and enjoy the ceramic tile double walk-in shower and a whirlpool tub.
One of the upper bedrooms will have a double bed and a futon. All the upstairs bedrooms are queens, and a couple doubles. In total, the home has five double or queen beds, two double futons, an air mattress, and one single bed.
Our farm kitchen table seats 10, and the breakfast bar seats five. The kitchen has granite countertops and a large island.
In the backyard, there is also a historic cottage. Please check out the pictures. This detached building can be heated but is not heated full-time and is not open from after Thanksgiving to Easter. Special arrangements may be discussed for an extra fee of $100 to pay for a special cleaning and to allow it to be opened an heated in the winter. It has an amazingly quaint and charming living room and an upper loft.
In addition, the backyard, right next to the cottage, built into the patio, has a gas fireplace table and a fire pit. There is also a lovely screened porch for the morning coffee.
Okay, just a little more to brag about. There is a large circle driveway for parking and another open driveway with a basketball hoop. In addition, there is a nice flat and large yard for sports or yard games.
HISTORY OF THE PROPERTY
Welsh immigrants helped settle this farm in the 1840s. This estate was established by Richard "King" Jones of Wales. The first church services, weddings, and more were held on this estate. Mr. Jones allowed people to live in his barn while they built their homes. He named his farm after the name of his farm in Wales, UK. The name is Bronnyberllan.
This estate is written about in several published writings. It is remarked as the most famous Welsh home in Wisconsin. In 1891, a fire burnt down Mr. Jones's original estate. It was then rebuilt in the 1890s by a man named Charles Williams. It was written that Mr. Williams, a man of healthy means, then built what is described as one of the finest homes in the Town of Genesee. After decades of farming, the Rees family sold the farmland. This home was on to what now is known as the Legend at Brandybrook Country Club. The Legend is a beautiful private country club and high-end neighborhood that abuts this property. Finally, the Cavaiani bought the home in 2006, only the fourth family to own the home.
It was in much need of repair and restoration, but to their delight, the beautiful main floor woodwork had never been painted, and the stained glass windows were all still in place. After a year of restoration, even to the point of matching wood species and milling, the Cavaianis and their family of five moved in. Our kids have now grown; two are in college, and one only has a year left of high school. As a result, we moved into a smaller home nearby and now manage this home as an Airbnb. It is a delight to share this home with others and see how much they appreciate it.
Ask Jay about hiking trails! There are many trail systems nearby.
Retzer Nature Center is beautiful and close; you don’t need a permit.
Other State Park trail systems nearby include Lapham Peak and the Scuppernong Trails. Both of those are beautiful! Lapham is more popular and closer (10 min). Scuppernong is about 15 minutes away and more remote, with fewer people. Lapham, you will have to pay for parking, and if there is snow, the trails are for cross country only. It does have a tower to check out with views of the nearby lakes. Scuppernong is always open to hiking, and to park in the lot, you need to pay, but you can park for free on the road, Hwy ZZ, and that’s free. Please feel free to ask questions. There are several other areas to check out. Some of those include Paradise Springs and the Ice Age Trail. The Ice Age trail is not a loop trail.
Guest access
The home is exclusively for you, our guests. The garage is locked along with the unfinished portion of the basement, and a mini office & closet area in the home are closed for the owners' use. The rest is for our guests to enjoy. None of the places mentioned for the owner impacts the freedom of our guests to enjoy this spacious home.
Other things to note
Please see our reviews to know how much care we put into cleaning for our guests.
The backyard is quiet and private, with a unique atmosphere next to the historic “Bronyberllan” cottage. The back patio has a wood fire pit and a gas fire table. There is an excellent room for the kids to play games in the finished lower level. They will also love playing in the loft of the cottage. There is ample space for a large group and a kitchen to accommodate.
