Main Description
Orchard Yurt, Allerford has a unique offering, it's spacious (16-feet diameter) and bright, yet cosy at the same time, with king-sized bed. Enjoy the experience of luxurious camping with the benefit of a comfortable bed and hot showers. On the inside, the structure of the yurt is enchanting and a clear window in the roof provides light and is perfect for viewing the renowned Exmoor dark skies. The yurt is fully insulated and has a wood burner inside, so you’ll be lovely and warm even into the autumn months.

The facilities building is approx 50 metres from the Yurt, here you will find your allocated private shower and toilet room, which can be locked. Towels and toiletries supplied.
This building also houses the washing up room, which all guests can access and is shred between all 3 units.
Breakfast hampers can be ordered (directly from the owner) - full English or continental, and/or BBQ packs, for an additional cost.
One medium dog or 2 small dogs welcome for supplement of £10 per dog. Dog bed and bowls can be provided.
The Yurt sits in a 2 acre orchard along with two shepherds huts (each sleeping 2 guests). Each unit is well spaced apart, accessed by individual paths, with tactful screening to ensure privacy, and each unit has it's own private, lockable toilet/shower room and its own hot tub. The Yurt is at the furthest point in the orchard and offers the most private space of all.
Indoor Description
The king-size double bed is the focal point in the middle of the yurt underneath the clear window roof! Bed linen is included. There is wood burning stove to keep you cosy on cooler evenings (logs provided), plus chest of drawers, bed side tables, small table and bean-bag chairs.
A complimentary breakfast is included in the price for your first morning.
The kitchenette facilities are just outside, under the oak-framed gazebo. It comprises a 2-ring gas hob for boiling water for tea or coffee and basic cooking, along with a selection of saucepans, frying pans, crockery and cutlery.
The Yurt and outdoor kitchen are both powered by solar energy offering a fully off-grid experience. This provides lights, a camping fridge and phone charging points.
A radio is also available with blue tooth functionality to allow you to listen to some music (quietly) or keep in contact with the outside world. There is no wi-fi, but mobile phone and 4G signal is good on most networks. A small selection of books and games are available.
There is no running water at the yurt, but mains tap (drinking) water is available in the nearby facilities building where the shared washing up area is, just 50 metres from the yurt, along a stone/gravel pathway.
The toilet and hot shower is also located in the facilities building, it's a private and lockable toilet/shower room for your sole use, so you can leave your personal items there. Towels and toiletries are included. Each unit has it's own allocated toilet/shower.
Outdoor Description
Your private wood-fired hot tub sits just behind the yurt, screened by hazel hurdles on two sides to provide privacy but allows views over the orchard. Logs are provided and the hot tub will be heated prior to your arrival on the first day. Decorated with pretty fairy lights, it creates a romantic space for couples to view the stars.
Next to the yurt is a decked area for sitting outside with a small dining table and chairs, and the outdoor kitchenette. It's a great outside space whatever the weather for alfresco cooking and dining.
There is also firepit with BBQ grill in the space below the yurt, along with two camp chairs. Local sustainable charcoal is available to purchase onsite directly from the owner, or bring your own.

The lawn space in front/around of the yurt is not fenced. There is are two Shepherd's hut in the orchard along with the yurt (each sleeping 2 guests). Each unit is thoughtfully spaced apart with screening to ensure privacy, and each unit has it's own private toilet/shower room. The orchard is open for all to enjoy, however it is expected that everyone should respect the privacy and space of others on the site and keep dogs (if bringing them) under control at all times.
Located in the beautiful Porlock Vale, it's a short distance to the beach, beautiful woodland, moors or the village or the village of Porlock with a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. Porlock is approx 1.5 miles.
Parking
There is private off road parking for one car on the edge of the orchard, it's a short walk across the orchard to the yurt.
At present we are unable to offer electric vehicle charging on site. The nearest charging point is in Porlock main car park (5min drive away)
Pets Description
One medium or two small dogs permitted per booking, for supplement of £10 each.
Please note, the area around the Yurt is not enclosed, the 2-acre orchard is shared with two Shepherd's Huts (each sleeping two guests and allowing up to two dogs). You are expected to keep your dog/s under your control at all times.

The region
The small hamlet of Allerford is probably most well known for the well-photographed 15th century pack horse bridge and the local National Trust and picture-perfect thatched country cottages, also in nearby Selworthy and Bossington. The larger village of Porlock is a short drive - approx 1.5 miles - less than 5 mins in the car, or approx 30 minutes on foot via quiet country lane, has a selection of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops. Minehead is the nearest town, with supermarkets and other shops, approx 10 minute drive.
There are many walks from the doorstep - within easy access is Bossington beach and Porlock Weir or head up onto North Hill or Dunkery Beacon for amazing views across the Bristol Channel to Wales.
