Horrible, Horrible, Horrible
This was our worst experience renting a VRBO so far. On paper the listing was appealing, but it did not accurately state that this a house divided into two apartments. The VRBO rental is the lower floor of the house. On the first night of our stay, the upstairs neighbors were completely inconsiderate of the occupants below. They partied until 5 AM with incessant thudding footsteps, wall-rattling music, slamming doors, and tromping up and down the steps. All of this rattled the chandeliers all night long. The worst part was that the host was unresponsive to messages and phone calls that we left throughout the night and the following morning. In fact, we did not hear from the host until after 10 am the following day. We had booked 3 nights and all of this occurred within our first 12 hours at the rental. The host provided no support or alternatives - only that it was a holiday (Valentine’s day?) so we should have expected some celebration by the neighbors. My family and I had no choice but to secure another rental on our own at our own cost for the remainder of our trip. We requested a refund from the host but they declined. Essentially, we had a terrible, sleepless night with two young children while the host did nothing but steal our money. By the way, the toilets were stained with urine, the sinks had hair trimmings, kitchen dishes and utensils were dirty, and the rugs were not vacuumed. BEWARE. Do not rent from his host. Would give zero stars if I could.
