Pls know that we loved our vacation at Oak Island. This location is two doors away from a fabulous restaurant that we enjoyed twice during our stay; the first night, and our last night.
The issue that my wife and I have with our stay lies w the fact that there was no sliding screen for the porch door.
Bc of this, we could not enjoy the sea breeze in our apt. That may seem a small thing to you, and we certainly felt that way by the management company when we called to let them know.
Their attitude solely focused on THEIR problem of having the wrong door shipped to them and having to wait until the RIGHT door came in -- while that is completely understandable, their conveyed attitude was nothing short of, "Tough luck, buddy, we've done our best, you just have to accept it."
$1400 total cost for us, reasonable and fair with EVERYTHING working, or at least being treated with respect.
Had I been notified of this issue AHEAD of time, I would've asked to be moved to another location along the beach; even been willing to pay a few more dollars if necessary--
The company could've very easily acknowledged, and VALIDATED our disappointment and offered to compensate us with a $$ reimbursement, or, "Here's a gift certificate at a nice restaurant --like Island Way-- to THANK you for working with us." NOTHING.
So, we're conflicted: We enjoyed our stay; Service left a bad taste in our mouth.
