Very good. Private.
Private and full of wildlife. Loved watching the deer in the morning. Saw a small fox also. Kids loved the large yard and fishing on the two docks available. It was super peaceful and perfect for anyone needing a break. Close enough to beach but private enough to enjoy being on “beach time” even though that wasn’t our case. Highly recommend. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with all utensils, pots, pans and dishes. Two tvs one in the living room and second in the master bed room. My favorite thing was the big shower in the master. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the toilet in the master bathroom just because there is an ac vent right under your feet when you are sitting. It’s shocking when it cuts on and blows straight up at you. Easily fixed by moving the bathroom rug over it while using the bathroom (closing it is always an option but doesn’t 100% block it). Other wise an amazing stay.

Return to peace
Mike’s properties are so inviting the entire neighborhood is so peaceful. This is a place to stay if you need to unwind from everyday stress. It is convenient to everything and the pier is marvelous to fish on or just relax. This was our second trip this year hope to return again real soon.The owner Mike Henley is so helpful ad great to work with.

Home away from home!
This is the second year we have stayed at Thrush Cottage and the third year staying in one of Michael's properties. We love the location of Thrush Cottage - great privacy and fishing on the neighborhood's private dock! Michael is always responsive and the property is in excellent condition with everything you need for a relaxing vacation at the beach!!

Nice home close to the beach
We stayed a week for the July 4th holiday. The home was clean and nice and cool. We fished on the pier in the neighborhood on the inlet waters. And we got to bring our pets along with us. We will be back!!

Relaxing quiet stay
Secluded, quiet location, great place to relax after a day at Ocean Isle Beach (about a 10 minute drive). It's an easy 15 minute drive to Shallotte, where you can find all kinds of shopping (including Walmart and Belk). Mike Healey touched base the day before my arrival and asked me to look the place over for any concerns. There weren't any. Then he called the day my stay ended to see what could be done to improve my stay. This is my choice to stay if it's available when I return to OIB!

Better than what I thought
Quiet cottage in a nice neighborhood surrounded by trees at the end of a road. Comfortable beds. I loved the nature, the deers that passed by the cottage, the rabbit, the cat, many kind of birds, the river with access to the 2 piers about 7 minutes walk where I saw dolphins twice. The ocean is about 10 minutes by car. Nice quiet beach. Good neighbors. Wish I was still there. Thank you to Darleen and Denis. Sending love ❤❤❤❤❤

The property is older, but comfortable.
The property is remote and great for dogs. The beach is 8 minutes away which was quite nice as well. Was happy with the overall cost of the rental. We contemplated renting again next year, but the price jumped significantly so we will have to reevaluate.

Sweet little gem
We stayed in the Thrush cottage the week of Thanksgiving. We fell in love with the property. It is very pet friendly. The place was soo clean and comfortable. The kitchen has good work space. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and a fish/seafood dinner with really no issues. The screened in back porch was nice. The piers were great for the guys to fish. We saw dolphins off the pier one evening. We brought our boat and the parking was fine for our vehicles plus the boat. The stores and restaurants are close by. The beach is maybe 5 minutes away. Mike is such a nice guy and very helpful. We will definitely be returning to this property on our next trip to the coast.

Peaceful Seclusion
This was our second year staying in the community where Thrush cottage is located. We love the neighborhood, private fishing docks and the cottages. Both cottages were extremely clean, well furnished and well kept. The property manager is also very accessible and responsive.

Worked well for us
For a family gathering we stayed at this property and another one that was on the island. It worked well. Some kayaked one day in the waterway. Mike was very responsive to the one AC problem we had. The pictures give a good representation of the home. It is basic but affordable and in a good location. You do have to drive about 10 minutes to the beach - over the bridge. The area is quiet and the home is set apart nicely at the end of the road.

A nice, quiet place that's just a quick drive to the beach.
This house worked out really well for our family as it is situated on a dead end with zero traffic to watch out for. When we weren't out at the beach or doing some other activity, the kids played soccer, tag, and ninjas in the front yard. It was nice when they asked if they could walk the dog around and we could say "yes" without fear of a car going by. Inside the house was just what we needed: clean rooms, one level, great AC, stocked kitchen, laundry, couches and TV, and comfortable beds. We also enjoyed that there was shade outside on hot days and a carport to park under, which kept our vehicle from getting scorching hot inside. The owner, Mike, was easy going and was available to call if we needed to ask a question or something. We would definitely stay there again if we go back to Ocean Isle Beach in the future.

Comfortable and relaxing.
We had a few glitches initially but Mike was very responsive and got things in order quickly. We LOVED the screened in porch and used it every chance weather permitted. Very quiet location and easy drive to beaches. The food in the area was sensational! Highly recommend Maria’s Pizza and Causeway Gormet. Unit was roomy and beds very comfy. Relatively new stove. Brand new microwave. Living room furniture cushions were challenge to get out of for our senior citizen bodies. Suggest grab bars would be helpful in bath/shower unit. The cottage is an older single wide mobile home so the doors, moulding etc show their age but nothing that affected our enjoyment. Would recommend considering a damage deposit as it was apparent that some guests did not treat the cottage with respect.

This trailer had a large private lot near all. The owner was very accomodating and addressed any minor issues we had immediately. We enjoyed the screened in porch, to sit at night. We did bring our own linens due to .covid. Some furnishings definetly require some updating, but since owner lives out of town, he is only aware of this, if his renters i form him. Everything worked and furnished tastefully. A more through cleaning should have been done by cleaning personnel prior to our rental. It was all neat and appeared clean, but upon going over furniture and counters with our cleansers, there was still soil on these items. The unit has a well equipped kitchen to meet all vacationers needs. It is a great family rental which is affordable and reasonably priced. I would definetly recommend this unit to my friends and Mike treated us very well.
