Ellis House - "Sehr süß, sauber und urig!"

Ein bisschen Geschichte: Am 21. Juni 1847 war dieses Anwesen Teil eines 40 Hektar großen Geländes in Perry Township, das von John W. gekauft wurde. Ellis - von der US-Regierung.
Heute ist das Ellis House eine komplett eingerichtete Kurzzeitmiete. Komplett mit modernen Kücheneinrichtungen, Streaming-Internet, Außengrill auf der hinteren Terrasse, zentraler Luft und Waschmaschine und Trockner. Zwei Schlafzimmer, zwei Betten und zusätzliche Luftmatratze. Mietpreise für einzelne Nächte oder Aufenthalt bis zu 3-4 Monaten. Französische Presse oder Filterkaffee, Ihre Morgen werden perfekt sein. The Ellis House was exactly what my family needed for the weekend! The house is deceiving from the outside - it contained plenty of space for us to spread out! Amanda was amazing with communicating with and was great to work with! The only Con of Ellis House is the curb appeal - the outside doesn’t equal the inside. We did not spend a lot of time at the house - just to shower and sleep - so I can’t speak to how the kitchen or lounging around the house is but we would definitely return if we ever have the need again! Thank you, Ellis House!

The house could really use a quick clean before guests come. Dead bugs all over and spiders in the bathroom. Musty smell when you walk in too. Otherwise owner was accommodating and had no major issues.

Nice idea but poorly executed.
The first night we were there we saw a mouse and found out that the kitchen floor was disintegrating slowly. The house smelled of mildew. I didn’t know what to do about it because we couldn’t get another room for the same price as quickly.

Country living
The property is located in a rural community in Iowa. We reserved it to attend a wedding in the area. It provided all we needed. This property is not an upscale venue. It is an old house in an old neighborhood. Decor can be described as ecclectic. The bed was comfortable and so was the temperature in the house. We would reserve the property again if we are in the area vs one of the motels in town. We wete able to prepare breakfast each of the 4 days we were there. The restaurants were closed for breakfast.

Very well furnished. I do not think there was anything that we needed for our stay that was not available in the house to use. Small and cozy, was exactly what we needed for our short stay. An older home, but well maintained with modern furnishings.

Older home, but just what we needed
While the house is older, it was just right for our group (couple + one). Plenty of towels & washcloths, fully stocked kitchen, and easy to find laundry facilities made staying here easy. The bathroom is tiny, but the shower is great, and the handheld shower accommodated folks ranging from 5'3" to 6'5". Plenty of hot water. Communication with the host made me feel like we were old friends. Don't expect elegance or luxury - recognize the main clientele is hunters. Two separate relaxing spaces (one with TV, one without), good WIFI. While it's on a main street, it's a small town, so pretty quiet. You can even hear the clip-clop of the Amish-owned horses in the evenings.

Needs a bit of TLC, but excellent communication with host. It suited all our needs. Bathroom door wouldn't lock and we had several spiders in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable, plenty of kitchen items. Washer/Dryer was a great benefit.

When we first drove up to the house we thought it was abandoned because of the over growth of weeds maybe a little yard word could be done to have curb appeal. Inside was okay except the bathroom door does not close or lock and was very dusty with spiders, that being said the beds were very comfortable and the air was nice and cool. I realize it's an older home but for the money we paid it could use more up keep.

Good spot to stay!
Great communication with the property owner. We arrived on a hot day and the air conditioning had been turned on for us. It was nice and cool when we arrived. The inside was nicely kept and everyone enjoyed being together in the living room and TV room areas. The town square was a short walk away where we could get food and ice cream. This property worked perfectly for our weekend trip.

Girls Weekend!!
Three high school friends getting together for the weekend. We weren’t expecting a really fancy house because we read all of the information on the website prior to booking. This is an older home that is not really fancy but it’s very comfortable and you can tell they are continuing to do updates on it. The beds were very nice and it has all of the bathroom and kitchen amenities that you need. Amanda was very good to work with, the key code for the front door worked great. We have stayed at the Ellis House several times in the past two months due to a work transfer and it has been perfect for us. It is a charming house with everything we need. Amanda is absolutely wonderful and very helpful and accommodating. Bloomfield is a lovely town. We will miss our stays here when we find a permanent home! Would definitely recommend staying here!

Perfect RAGBRAI Overnight Spot
My friends and I were biking RAGBRAI this year, and Amanda's home is a few blocks from the town square and right on the ride route. We arrived pretty late after a day of biking, and left early the next morning, but the house was perfect for the 5 of us to shower, do a load of laundry, and get a good night's rest before the ride to Fairfield! Amanda was quick to respond to any questions I had about the house, and it was easy to check in with the key code.
