Set in a little shepherd village nestled in the mountainous plains of Sempronas Valley at 550 m. altitude, our home is at the heart of the authentic Cretan life. Surrounded by forests, meadows, rivers and villages it is a unique place to experience all the joys of mountain living. Located 40 min. away from Sougia beach and 30 min. to Omalos plateuau. A true haven, fully equipped, perfect for a couple or three people, quiet and calm in an authentic Cretan village.
This cottage ("Sempy by the mountains") sits on acres of a natural plateau and gardens nestled at Sempronas Village. Easy access to beaches, traditional villages and numerous hiking paths well worth exploring.
Our cottage boasts of glorious outdoor spaces, a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living room with a wood burner installed. The space can comfortably sleep 9 adults.
The whole property sits on the ground floor where you can find 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, an ample living room and a fully equipped kitchen and of course marvelous outdoor spaces with barbecue facilities, large monastery type wooden table and an unprecedented view, natural beauty, sounds of birds and an absolute feeling of immersion and calmness.
Attached to the main building you will also find two extra buildings/bedrooms. Building one consists of a double bed bedroom and building two of a single bed plus a double bed.
Sempronas is a mountainous village, 34 km from the city of Chania. In the neighborhoods that are scattered on a small natural plateau, there are almost 130 residents living permanently.
It is a beautiful village with more than 80 natural springs, whose waters irrigate the area, which is green, and end up in the river Semproniotis. The most important of these sources is in Kambi of Sempronas, a location of incomparable natural beauty, with crystal clear waters and ancient plane trees. This river is full of vegetation and water during the summer season and trouts and eels swim in its waters.
In the neighborhood of Seli, there are cafes and restaurants available for visitors.
The inhabitants are mainly occupied in agriculture and animal husbandry. Thus, depending on the season, visitors can find chestnuts, dairy products, olive oil, wine, honey, olives and apples of excellent quality.
Distance to the secluded nudist beach of Sougia is at 40 minutes by car through a beautiful route that will take you to the South of Crete. Also, Omalos and Samaria gorge is at 30 minutes of driving distance. Agia Eirini Gorge is at 15 min. of distance. Overall, a car is recommended with which you will have the chance to experience the authentic Cretan life at numerous nearby typical Cretan villages, numerous natural spots of unparalleled beauty, gorges, hiking paths, away from all the touristy commotion. You will have the chance to meet local people, taste authentic (not overpriced!) food and find out how life truly is in this beautiful part of the world.

Our guests are welcome to a fully private use of all our facilities and of course to explore the beauty of the nature that our place has the chance to be blessed with. This is a brand-new, renovated home, residence of our ancestors. We have made sure that everything is properly maintained and equipped so you can have a relaxed stay away from problems. We do welcome any feedback so we can make things even better if needed for everybody.
----- Please be aware that our rates exclude an additional stayover tax. For stays from March to October, the tax is €1.5 per night, while from November to February, it is €0.5 per night. This tax applies to all bookings starting January 1st, 2024. Guests are required to pay this additional tax directly to the check-in assistant who will be responsible for key handover upon arrival.
