Stafford River House


At the Stafford River House we have direct access to the river from our backyard where you can go swimming, fishing, kayaking, or even paddle boarding. Our house has central heating and cooling, a Nest system, to keep you comfortable for the times you want to be inside relaxing. Our home has a rustic woodsy vibe to it. Being here is more about time together, being in the woods, watching birds, using the dock and river to enjoy the natural setting. We are located on a quiet older established neighborhood.

Our stay at this property was extremely disappointing and frankly unacceptable. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the condition of the home did not match the photos in the listing. The pictures are very misleading and do not reflect the current state of the property.The floors inside the home were noticeably sloped and tilted, which made it not only uncomfortable to walk around, but also difficult to sit at the dining table without feeling off balance and unstable due to the uneven flooring. On top of that, one of the dining chairs was broken, which only added to the safety concerns. Even more alarming was the deck, which felt hazardous and unsafe. We did not feel secure using it at all.Cleanliness was a major issue. It was clear that the property had not been properly cleaned prior to our arrival. The toilets had visible dirty rings inside the bowls. The bedding and towels were stained and appeared unwashed. In the kitchen, many utensils and cookware were either dirty, old, broken, or had heavily burnt bottoms. The refrigerator was also very dirty.The bathroom was particularly disturbing, with pubic hair and mildew present in the bathtub. The pillows and bedding were heavily stained. That level of uncleanliness is unacceptable for any rental.Overall, the property was poorly maintained, unclean, and inaccurately represented online. We would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others. It is particularly unsafe for senior citizens and children.

The photos did not match what we expected. There is a lack of cleanliness as the coffee maker was moldy with old grounds, light fixture hanging from ceiling, blinds broken in bedroom, window don’t lock and toilets dirty. Recommend getting repairs, cleaning company and landscaper.

The Stafford River House was an amazingly unique property. We loved hour beautiful and peaceful the location was and yet it was very close to a major interstate. It was very convenient to travel to our excursions. Check-in was seamless, the home had all the amenities we needed including a reliable wi-fi connection. We enjoyed our 2-night stay very much!

Great communication, easy check in and out, beautiful surroundings. We rented the house for a celebration. We had an issue with the grill running out of propane but were able to replace the tank with one we bought. Rachel will reimburse us for that cost, so no issue... but then the inside bottom of the grill collapsed onto the deck spilling flame and hot grease all over. Thankfully, we were able to put out the fire. Yikes... and... WHEW!We were able to finish our steaks in the (well apportioned) kitchen and salvage the event. All good! When we checked out I gave Rachel a call and she assured me that they'd get a new grill in there ASAP. So get your reservation in now. We'd definitely book again and hope for less "drama."

Loved this house and neighbohood

Our stay was wonderful. The only reason I gave it four out of five stars above is there are some part to the property that are a little rundown, including railings outside down to the river. The dock was also pretty rundown a little unsafe, but we still were able to get into the river on the kayaks on the paddleboard and it was amazing. The river is very very nice And the location and the views were wonderful. My only negative comment is in the mornings during the week you can hear traffic from the freeway my whole reason for coming out here was to get away from all the car noise in the traffic noise so that was a little disappointing but overall it was a wonderful stay. I would definitely book this place again it was plenty of space for me and my family. Also, screens on the windows in the living room would be good, but I get why they’re not necessary all the time anyway thank you so much for letting us reach your home. It was wonderful and we will definitely be back.

I would give 4.5* if that were possible. There was nothing wrong with the house (things in the kitchen were perhaps oddly placed, but so what), it's just that the place could use a little bit of fix-me-up. Fairly minor stuff that I wold do if it were my place.

Thanksgiving Disappointment

The rental was easy enough to find. A cabin in the woods. The steps going down to the front door were slippery and covered in moss making navigating with suitcases challenging. We were given a door code for entry. It always took several tries to unlock the door. (Better instructions to light up the entire keypad would have been helpful). The house was a bit of a mystery with alternating water pressure in each room. The fridge was filled with used condiments and one kitchen drawer was filled with opened food items. The cabinet under the sink in the kitchen was very dirty. We chose to stay in the upstairs bedroom. There was no reading lamp by the bed. We found one in the bedroom two floors down and moved it for our stay. Things were grimy and a bit greasy. The floor in the eating area had quite a tilt on it. The door lock on the back door looked like it had been installed by a beaver with sharp teeth. Just too many things that did not impress us. I definitely would not stay here again.
