We had booked two rooms with a panoramic ocean view. After a long travel day we got to the Marriott and the check in person was helping us check in and disappeared for about 20 minutes. We finally asked someone where he went and they went to find him. After some time they told us they had given away both of our rooms! They said they gave them to a pilot who needed them. They then wanted to send us to another resort for a night! I refused to go to another resort and after about 1.5 hours of standing there they put us all in one cheaper room for the night. I talked to another woman staying there the next day and she said the same thing happened to her last year. Crazy me to find out Marriott has a deal with some airlines that pilots can get rooms whenever they need them and take a paying customers room away at will. So Marriott takes the money from the airlines for this deal and doesn’t advertise that if you book with them your room isn’t guaranteed if a pilot needs it. This to me is false advertising!! If we had known this was their policy then we would have the choice to take the chance to loose our rooms after traveling thousands of miles. Someone needs to check on the legality of this policy because the customer has no idea this could happen.
