Renters Beware
The host reached out prior to go over everything and was super nice, but on our way there it was mentioned that one of the windows needed to be fixed and asked us to fix it. The house layout was amazing, lots of space and room. We had trouble with the bathroom doors and patio doors while we were there. The bathroom doors wouldn’t close/handles kept falling off or there was a unique way of opening the door just to get out. The patio door also had an unusual way to lock it. The fridge wasn’t getting cold by the end of night one and when I went to see why I found that the fridge had so much dust caked onto it, there wasn’t enough airflow to get the fridge cold. But that’s not even the worst part… there were a ton of rodent droppings behind the fridge which is a huge health concern especially with little children. When I brought these concerns up to the owner, she had an excuse for everything as if she was not responsible. She blamed the previous guests and the north woods for these issues. While we were they she had the nerve to ask if they could show the house to potential buyers.

House was a Dream, Owner was a Nightmare
First off, the house is everything you would expect from the pics. No complaints besides the fact that there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the whole house. Not the end of the world, but inconvenient. The real issue with this property is the owner. The second day I woke up to a text saying "Good morning. I'm going to have to ask you to leave the property immediately for not following the house rules. I have video of the guys entering the furnace room and taking things that do not belong to them. Please return my personal items and leave peacefully or the cops will be called". This was at 830am. When I woke up at 9am, The Property Manager was at the door and the cops were on the way (Property Manager is different than the Property Owner). After the Property Manager and myself talked to the Property Owner 3 different times on the phone, we were finally able to talk her off the cliff. It turns out they left a door unlocked in the basement, that should have been locked, and one of my friends went in there at 1am when he was cold and grabbed a pillow and blanket off a shelf. Another one of my friends went in there as well, but didn't take anything. SHE CALLED THE COPS ON US FOR GRABBING A PILLOW AND A BLANKET OFF A SHELF. She also told me that there was no way the door was unlocked and that we must have "kicked down the door or picked the lock with a credit card". While the Property Manager was on-site, she confirmed the door was unlocked. While I was pleading with her on the phone to let us stay, and said "where are we suppose to go, I had people fly in for this fishing trip this weekend" she said "That sounds like a you problem, not a me problem". In the end when it was discovered, thanks to the property manager, that this was all just a big misunderstanding, she took zero accountability for escalating it to a level it didn't need to go to and never once apologized for the accusations she made, or not calling me first and trying to talk it through like adults. Please read the reviews below as you can tell what kind of person she is based off her responses where it is never her or the houses fault, its always the renters fault. You have been warned.

Horrifying experience!!
We purposely paid more for this gorgeous resort because we were bringing grandchildren who are very young and wanted a safe, clean environment. But instead we got the vacation from hell! It was like a Alfred Hitchcock vacation with bats flying around in the living room, dining room, bed room and kitchen! We found bats in the cold air exchange, in the walls, and swooping by our heads! Overall we encountered at least 8 bats in about a 24 hour period!! My husband found numerous breaches in the exterior of the home where the creatures may have entered. This is a beautiful vacation home, however, I would request to see proof of a pest control inspection before ever staying here! I have photos, but wanted to save you a potential nightmare.

Wow the views!
Fantastic lake front property on Alice Lake / Wi River. House was beautifully perched on top of the hill with incredible lake views. Great dock for our pontoon boat, two outdoor fire pits, and huge deck with spectacular views. Plenty of room with 4 bedrooms - could easily sleep 10-12. Even had beautiful sand for playing in the water. Highly recommend.

Perfect Lakeside Vacation!
Everything about our stay was wonderful. Very clean, great location, great property. We made good use of the patio, fire pit, swimming in the lake, and kayaks. (Note: bring your own life jackets.) Jody checked in frequently to make sure everything was OK. Very relaxing getaway!

Positives: -Great location on Lake Alice, awesome views -Beautiful surroundings -2 kayaks provided for the use of guests Negatives: -3 Bedrooms Only (3BRs also stated on the house occupancy certificate). The 4th "bonus" room is in a basement with no windows. -Squeaky bunk beds. Kids kept waking up at night. -Cleanliness upon arrival. Will skip details but we had to do a bit of cleaning upon check in. -Very strict check-out rules. We requested a little later check out as the villa showed the date as available in HomeAway. We were told we had to be out literally by 10am sharp. -No BBQ Grill. Both listing and rental agreement listed a BBQ grill, however upon arrival we found out this was not the case. There was NO advance warning by the host. We sent them a screenshot of the listing showing a grill was provided. Considering the pandemic situation we brought tons of grilling groceries and were planning to grill and eat in for the duration of our stay. The host refused to assist in any way other than offering a $30 credit for us to buy a new grill and gas tanks. We were 6 adults and 5 kids. Not sure where even a small grill with a gas tank can be purchased for $30, let alone one that can accommodate a larger group. For the overall rate charged, we did not expect such surprises or having to spend precious vacation time driving around stores looking for a grill.

Family reunion
Our experience working with Jody was excellent! Any time we had a question, she responded promptly. The house worked beautifully for our family reunion. It was a hot week in July, and the house does not have air conditioning- but it has lots of fans, which helped keep it cool. Lake Alice was a great place to pontoon, and play in water. We had no problems or issues during our week. Thanks Jody!

I’m sharing my review about this cabin and the owner with everyone before you guys start booking this place. My friends and family, we had booked this cabin for the weekend. The first thing we notice was that, the bathroom downstairs and the one in the master bedroom, was having a plumbing issue. You were able to use it to just urinate, but anything beyond that, it’ll clogged up! We didn’t think of to call the owner, thinking that if we manually unclog it, it’ll be fine. After our stay, we did read some previous review and people were mentioning about the same plumbing issue we were having. We were there for 4 days and 3 nights, only being able to use 2 bathrooms out of 4, for 21 people in the house. The place does not sleep 21 people! The fridge did not work well, it was not able to keep its Temperature up. The second issue we had was, there were no toilet tree supplies that were available for our use at the cabin. Within our stay, we did have some accident. For example there were 2 chairs that were broken and we understood, that’ll be our responsibilty to pay for at the end of our stay. My warning for everyone before booking this property is that, please make sure to take before and after picture of everything in the house! After our stay, we were charged, a ridiculous amount for damages. The damages that was charge against us was, plumbing, additional cleaning fee, 2 broken chair, and supposedly a broke kayak paddle, that we know, it wasn’t broken, since it was only a one time use! Just a reminder too, we were already charge for a cleaning fee during our stay. We had put everything back and clean the place to the best of our ability before our departure. We did paid her for the amount she had requested from us within 24hrs after our stay. About 2 days later, she has sent me another request, for another ridiculous amount, [a broken toilet tank cover (which she claim she cannot purchase a cover that fits so have to replace the entire toilet), Broken outlet cover and another broken lawn chair.] My respond to her was to send me proof and give me a call directly. She was unable to reach both of my needs and sent me a message 2 days later just telling me to please pay as I am responsible for the damages. At this point, it’s clear to me that she is trying to scam me. I just want to warn everyone who come across this property, before they have to go through what my friends, family and I have to go through after our stay here.

Wonderful Stay
My wife and I and two exchange students (12 year old from Spain and 15 year old from France) had a wonderful stay at your very spacious, well maintained, quiet and secluded lake home. We enjoyed the rustic setting on your heavily wooded and private land, and your fabulous lake view and lake access. We took advantage of you firepit near the water, and your kayaks. We felt as though as were deep in the forrest despite having shopping, dinning, etc... just a few miles away. We look forward to furture stays!

Beautiful views, wonderful town.
We had 14 people staying at this lake house for 7 days in July ranging in age from 9 - 67. The house is huge and accommodated us well inside. We opened the windows and the breeze kept us comfortable throughout the stay. It was mid to upper 80s outside. We did a lot of family meals and the kitchen had pretty much everything we needed. We did bring a large pot for pasta as the one they had wasn't big enough for all of us - 14 people is a lot! :) Plenty of seating in the dining room, living room, and deck. The house was fully stocked with paper supplies (TP & paper towels), towels, linen, laundry detergent, dish washing detergent, garbage bags, & firewood. I would recommend putting a TV in the basement for the younger visitors. There is one tv in the living room. The grassy slope down to the steps that lead to the dock and the steps themselves are quite a work out. I think we counted 41 steps in all! It worked out fine but just keep that in mind for older vacationers. Jody was great, very responsive and even checked in with us during our stay to see how things were going. It was warmer than normal on the lake so the boat fishing wasn't great but my 9 year old nephew caught a ton of fish right off the dock. We took advantage of many activities during our week stay including renting a pontoon for fishing, speed boat tubing with the kids and playing on a lily pad by the dock. The lake is great for tubing/boating as it is very calm. My sister-in-law tried out one of the kayaks at the house too. We had a fire one night and made smores. We picked up pizza from Bambinos in downtown Tomahawk...it was delicious. We ate at Bottoms up Bar & Grill one evening which is located on the lake. They were great and even let us use their sand volleyball court one night for a family tournament. We also spent a rainy day at the bowling alley in downtown Tomahawk. The person running it that day was by himself but he was extremely nice and was able to accommodate all of us and prepare our food at the same time as waiting on the bar side of the alley. We caught a water ski show one of the nights which was nice as well. The best store for grocery's was Trigs. It had everything you needed and the people were extremely nice. My husband and I saw a Black Bear on the street right off the alley.and we saw several eagles flying by the house. We caught fireworks on the lake one night as well (Bottoms up was putting on a show). Overall, great stay!
