Honeymoon We had the honor of being the first guests at the hotel and spending our honeymoon there. We were picked up at the airport by the manager and taken to the hotel. I have NEVER seen such a hotel emerge out of nowhere and immediately surpass all the hotels on the island. The attention to detail is stunning. The decor throughout the hotel is exquisite and of very high quality. The room is wonderfully quiet, and every day there was a fresh and clean room with fresh fruits and new drinks. EVERY request was like a command to the hotel. The staff is absolutely friendly and accommodating. Every smallest question was professionally answered immediately. I have rarely seen such friendly, professional, and at the same time unobtrusive staff. The breakfast was delicious every day. The kitchen fulfilled every wish. You were always warmly welcomed to eat. The staff remembered our preferences and paid attention to every small detail, tailoring everything to us. The wellness area is very clean and very relaxing. Incredibly great pool, and the Turkish bath is very good. The hotel's own bar is also the best bar on the entire island. Even on the day of departure, there was a packed lunch. Excellent service, excellent breakfast! The location is great for exploring Ponta Delgada on foot, but keep in mind you will hear the airplanes and, if you get a room to the front, cars on the cobblestone road.

We were rebooked to Casa Atheneu a few days before arrival. First of all, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is an older building, our room sometimes smells musty. However it was very clean. Breakfast is the same all days and does not fit to the pictures on the website. In our room it was pretty noisy from the street. It is o.k. for some days but not for a longer stay.
